Running without a bonnet?
Could be a stupid question.... I am due to pick up a new bonnet soon for the mk1. If I take all the carpet and bits of plastic trim that may fly off.... can I run the car without a bonnet? I thought I could, but since then the answers are about 50/50 going yes or no.

Re: Mark 1 Death?!
OT but I thought I would share this with you :) My Focus has just had it's 10th birthday. 89k on the clock and running great. The other day I got a letter from my local dealership about the 2k scrapping scheme. On this letter there was a picture of a battered early 90s POS Fiesta (with a missing hub...

Re: seat mountings
Although they are expensive at around £80 ish. There is the advantage that they save a bucket load of messing about :thumleft: The downside for me is that they appear to be all side mounting. I like my Cobra seats, but they are bottom mounting so it looks like I will need replacements :( I do know t...

As a trike I quite like that. They skimped a bit on the seating though, should have big comfy seats rather than the back jarring contraption they have there.

Re: New suspension and brakes...
Just gone through my pile of bills. The KYB's & springs on mine were done by the previous owner. I have actually found the kit again on the website http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?cls=ROAD&pcode=AVUCDK75-30 So, KYB's with AVO springs? Never heard of AVO but they drop...

Re: New suspension and brakes...
Hmm I'm running KYBs on 30mm drop. No idea what the springs are but the ride seems firm but fine. Bearing in mind I have gone around in Westfields, Elise's etc.

Well that was painful in the finer points of oil filter codes. This might actually be handy to someone. YZZJ2 works on mk1's.

Toyota oil filter code
Had a quick hunt through the search and could find an answer. I have a mk1b and I have just gone to Toyota and they have provided an oil filter with the code (based on chassis number) 90915-YZZJ2 Mine is a 88 mk1b with the red top engine. Before I dump the engine oil everywhere, I have had a memory ...

Found this in the search. I have a set of DS2500's to go on the front. What is everyone using for the rears?
edit:- I should add that the car will be used for sprinting and track days. It's road legal so driving to / from venue's as well.

The holes simply hold the two half's together. This is on top of the four bolts along the top infront of the rad. Just put a nut and bolt in there and do up. Also copper grease it!!

Re: Your Plans For 2009?
Hmmm,
Take front end off and replace with mica blue front end.
Look at headlights and contemplate whether to tackle that bolt or not. Bolt involves loads of angle grinding.
Fit the manual choke kit.
Fit harness
Fit fire extinguisher
Fit decent steering wheel
Get it through the MOT!
