hi , i would check the bottom pulley hasn't de-laminated . the outer ring ( what the fan belt runs on ) is rubber bonded on and they do fail and slip under heavy load . take the belt off and see if you can turn the outer pulley by hand .

check you have power going to the injectors , check all earths and wiring in boot to the ecu in case the boots leaked with all this rain we have had , but its most probably the immobilizer gone boobs up .

check cam belt it might have snapped , also have you got a spark at the plugs

hi mate , they do i found 2 in 2 weeks , there has been 4 mk1A's turn up on ebay this week . i have done 900 miles round trips to get both of these cars and both been worth the trip .

hi Alex it sounds to me like the timings way out , check the exhaust cam isn't 180 degrees out and the inlet cam is set right , all so make sure the dots are set right right on the dizzy and you have set the engine to top dead center before fitting it , its the only thing i can think of whats stoppi...
