You need a way to measure air volume and a 3 Bar MAP sensor is what you need to delete the AFM

Check that the flexible hose has not deteriorated and is blocked, especially given the comments on your other post about the caliper sticking.

Valve clearances or it might be TVIS if it is fitted.

Should you decide to start it pull the plugs out and wind it over on the starter first, this should get some oil pressure.
These old Toyotas are amazing and given fresh fuel and a decent battery it might just fire straight up... you don't want that to happen without any oil pressure.

Does sound big end to me, personally. I believe they can be checked and changed just by taking the sump off so if that's all it is a very cheap fix in the scheme of things. I'm guessing when it was first turned over after all the storage time it wasn't pumped with the ignition system detached Glws!...

I know that the 4age bigport in Corollas had a problem with oil draining back to the sump from the head and sometimes when cornered hard they would blow a cloud of smoke from the exhaust. I don't know about MR2's doing the same though. Might be worth a search.
