Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Caliper Slider Pin: Rubber O-Ring

For future reference use the proper Toyota brake grease, anything else seems to 'swell' the rubber making the caliper stick

Countach

Last summer, I live next to a B road and the speed limit past my house is 30mph. It's a nice sunny Sunday afternoon and my wife and I are relaxing in the garden like you do. All of a sudden there is a sound like thunder coming from the road outside and then it's gone. Nothing unusual really, just so...

Re: Breakdown last night - fuel or cam timing?

The fuel pressure regulator ensures enough pressure is held in the fuel rail to fire the injectors. If the regulator goes bad it lets too much fuel return to the tank and the injectors have little or no pressure to work. The regulator lives on the end of the fuel rail by cylinder 4 You could also tr...

Re: Breakdown last night - fuel or cam timing?

From your description above it sounds like it might just be running off of the cold start injector. The cold start injector only works when cranking the engine over, sounds like there is just enough fuel to start it up and run it for a few seconds. It could be the fuel pressure regulator in the fuel...

Re: Breakdown last night - fuel or cam timing?

JMR is correct, code 11 is a check code I think. If you depress the throttle when checking codes you should see code 11 release the throttle and it should not show code 11.

Re: Breakdown last night - fuel or cam timing?

if the cambelt has jumped a tooth (unlikely) then the ignition timing could be out as the ignition timing is set from the exhaust cam. I would be looking at the distributor cap and rotor arm. Code 11... tps It could be that the ignition timing is not advancing if the tps is not coming out of its 'i...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Why do mr2 calipers stick?

Check for rust build up between the rubber slider boot and the caliper. What happens is that over the years a layer of rust builds up and squeezes the rubber boot harder and harder onto the slider pin. Biggest issue by far though is the use of non Toyota approved lubricant on the boots. Use ONLY the...

AW11 in breakers yard

Almost complete. May be of some use to someone, it's in a breakers yard in Bloxham in Oxfordshire. Smiths of Bloxham it's called, just ask in the town, I'm sure the place is infamous there :thumleft:
