Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] High comp low blow anyone?
i'm gonna have to get my chargecooler set up aren't i? Run some sort of method to work out iat's and just see what i'm getting- then bump the cr to suit. Ballparking only - if i take a safe iat to be 60 degrees C with a stock cr, then work backwards from that. Seems hot but my current uprated IC def...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] High comp low blow anyone?
nah nothing too serious- mildly stoved in front end, hit it pretty hard though. Who needs a jig when you've got a ratchet strap and a massive gatepost  can't belive how well the bumper's come out either it's the 3rd time he's crashed it and he's never swapped the bumper, never underestimate...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] High comp low blow anyone?
some really interesting reading there :thumleft: sorry i've been quiet a few days, my mate stuffed his car into the back of a truck so we've been putting that back together, so i haven't had time to digest this and throw some calculations into the mix but i'll try to get on them tonight (22 year old...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] High comp low blow anyone?
i'm wondering how much effect heatsoak would have on the intake charge temps at tdc- simply because use charge will be moving so quickly- off the top of my head 200 mph+ and only some of the charge will be heated- where it's in contact with the head/block.. Is this why you see higher compression na ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] High comp low blow anyone?
just been doing some more noseying around and managed to find someone who managed a 70 deg C inlet temp- running 17 psi on a ct20, assuming that's running a standard compression ratio (i will pm him) then that suggests a 633 deg F tdc temp- and apparently it didn't blow up  how does that work? ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] High comp low blow anyone?
i'm going to go through that post here as i read it again- i have read it before but i want to read it again here because i don't fully understand why it makes my idea a bad one.. Sorry for being dumb :) i read on here that someone using an st205 chargecooler never saw intake temps higher than 35 de...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] High comp low blow anyone?
That amount of boost at that level of compression is tunable as far as i'm aware (considering what i've mentioned about vtec engines and cylinder pressures) so i shouldn't have to take any special measures against det other than a proper tune with a standalone (going to set my car up with a fully pr...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] High comp low blow anyone?
i found this article this morning which best explains what i mean http://www.motorsportsdigest.com/tech/forced2.htm cylinder pressure wise a cr of 8.5 at 15 psi is the same as a cr of 10 at 10 psi, so i'd end up with a broader range of torque (low rpm would be improved where the turbo currently can'...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] What steering wheel size??? Pics welcome.....
you bunch of fairys  i had a 280 wheel in my old car- honda crx without power steering.. Yeah parking was more difficult but as soon as you get driving properly it makes sense. Better feel through the wheel, easier to throw around and more difficult to get 'lost' in the steering rack. Stick a r...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] High comp low blow anyone?
i knew someone would be doing it, out of interest rogue what's a safe amount of boost to be running on that 2zz ge (really know nothing about that engine, pardon my ignorance :D ) i was thinking about it though, how come with boost you can get such mad compression ratio's? I thought the most you cou...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] High comp low blow anyone?
The theory behind it is that i think this is more the engine that it was supposed to be in my opinion. I read a really interesting article on the celica st165 rally tuning. Toyota team europe did a high compression low boost engine and toyota team uk chose a low compression high boost engine. Also i...

[Mk2] [Turbo] High comp low blow anyone?
Hi all, sick of my engine falling out so i'm planning on doing a swap (whoever did the cambelt installed bolts that tightened on the bottom of the threads before the mount, which have since sheered off and i've only managed to get 2 of the 3 out  replaced the 2 bolts i could actually get out b...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Ignition tuning advice :)
Not really much to take photo's of, just piles of wires, a dizzy that you wont recognise and an ecu with some black boxes hanging out of it  This swap has been done before - but to honda OBD1 (think 1993+) but i happen to have OBD0 gear so that's what i'll be using. I've just signed upto MR...
