Re: Progress At last....
Good effort! Just a comment... I was told by my mechanic to avoid painting the engine black as when there is a small leak...it's bloody difficult to see where it is coming from. SSMR2 Just my 2p, Black has the positive effect of looking nicer for longer, hides the inevitable dirt and muck ;) Oil le...

Re: Car lacking power, using a lot of fuel
Also getting a high pitched whining noise that gets louder as revs increase. Thought it might be the alternator but it still does it with the belt off?! The squeal is possibly coming from the timing belt tensioner, the bearing is probably shot, if you look at this pic (Borrowed from "Mister2Mk...

Re: Mark 1 Death?!
Scrappage scheme doesn't work like that. You need to have been the registered keper of the car you scrap for at least 12 months and the scheme will only run for slightly less than 12 months. If the scheme did allow you to scrap off a car you've just bought then no one with any sense would sell you ...

Re: Official IMOC.UK Show Your AW11
Not really, I suppose as I only touch the end of it with my fingertip (ooo errr Mrs) I have not really noticed :) The main reason I made it was because the MK1 indicator stalk has a horrible flash line along the top of the stalk that is irritating (well to me anyway!) to use, also there is a "l...

Re: Mark 1 Death?!
I have to use my MK1 as a daily driver, I wouldn't want to put myself in to any further financial strife for a new car. I understand that times have changed, when I was younger, everyone seemed to know how to mend cars (well certainly a greater percentage than now!) We had to, because lets face it, ...

Re: Ferodo high performance brake pads
Hmmm, Mine are marked MISCFCP308A not FRP, the pad material is 3466F (Marked on the pads). Are these the same as the FRP's? I don't want to put racing jobs on my road car, they could be a bit of a problem from cold :( The material certainly feels rough, not to sure how long my discs will last, I hav...

Re: Cleaning TVIS?
Not sure if this is possible, in case the ECU won't operate the TVIS unless the car is moving (Jeremy?), but it should be able to feel the TVIS actuator moving when you rev the engine. You will need to stick your arm underneath the inlet manifold, and you should be able to feel the actuator in the m...

Just 2 questions: 1) Why do you need arrows on the stalk? Is it that easy to forget? 2) Can you now please show me how to put the stalk on the left hand side? Ta! (good mod by the way) Just to say, thanks for all the comments everyone :) I drove the car for 60 miles today (enjoyed the snow!) and I ...

Sounds good!
I may have to start doing regular 60mile trips, an MR2 doing 50+ MPG on 50p Litre bio fuel sounds great!
Good luck, keep us posted!

Indicator Stalk Mod - 7 pics, none above 65K
I have always had a 1 really irritating thing when driving my MR2 (apart from engines blowing up!).... The little bit of "Flash" along the top and bottom edge of the indicator stalk, every time I use the indicators it nicks my finger, not in a painful way, just irritating ;) You can just s...

+10: My car has managed to do more than 200 miles on it's 3rd engine in 6 months without blowing up!
-3: I relised I have had the car 6 months when the car tax reminder dropped through the letterbox
So a 7 overall in the MR2 dept can't complain

Re: boot popper help please
Rather than filing down all the wafers that don't fit you can mix and match to get most of them in line to reduce them number that you'll need to modify, if you've got a spare lock or two with the same type wafers then you've got even more chance of getting them all lined up properly. Good idea! ;)...

Re: boot popper help please
You'd need to file down the 2 on the bottom as well  be aware that doing this makes the lock less secure than it would be with the correct key. That's why I said ..that stick out over the top/bottom of the barrel. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough :( Yes it will make it less secure, if you only ...

I quite like those Rover wheels Pete Do you know what car they are from?
They look like good winter jobs, are they from the 214 (baked potato shape)?
