In-car tv screen and PS2 slimline

Hello, Just fitted my t.v screen and PS2 (slimline) but have a problem with interference. It appears to be caused by the power supply to the PS2 and is seen as lines on the screen and whining through the stereo (only when engine is on and/or power steering in operation). The power supply I used firs...

Loom

Hey mate, It would be a good idea to swap the whole loom over at the same time you should swap all the plus/sensors from the old engine to the new one. Do them one at a time so you dont mix them up, dont worry about the connectors though as they all only fit on one plug/sensor. The reason I say swap...

Engine swap

Hello Urban, Sound like you have been busy mate. I did the same thing as you a while back but you know that anyway. If you replace the whole loom complete, injector wires and all plugs/sensors it will be exactly the same. Just take the loom off the new engine and swap it with the old one. You will n...

Hello mate, I can help you with the quarter windows but the rear I havent done co`s it looks NINJA. It involves a similar process but a hell of a alot more of a PITA. As for the quarters, remove all plastic trim from around window on the inside, you will have to undo the seat belt top bolt to get al...

Gearbox

Hello mate,

If you are talking about a rev2 N/A gearbox fitting a rev1 N/A then yes it will.

All you need to do is change the speed sensor on the gearbox to the mechanical type from the rev1.

I know this because I have just done it.

Cheers, Lewis.

Re: Timing @ 12.5 degs

Hello mate, Yeah thats the same for me, having a blitz sus and de-cat on mine it felt like it had lost some low down torque but it does seem better now. Another noticable difference is the idle is ever so slightly lumpy. About every 2-3 secs it skips a purr. Is that the same for you?? Cheers, Lewis.

Cat test

Hello mate,

If your car was made before 1st August 1992 it should not need a emmisions test.

If the garage does do one it should not fail the car unless the smoke is visibly dangerous i.e it obscures your view.

Cheers, Lewis.

Timing @ 12.5 degs

Hello,

Just put a replacement engine in my N/A rev1.

Set the timing to 12.5 degs, the car runs really well.

Is this to far or should I put it to 10 degs?

I have a blitz sus and de-cat fitted if that makes a difference.

Any advice welcome!!

Cheers, Lewis.

Coolant change

Hello mate, Try and follow the BGB online mate its pretty good http://www.mr2-tech.com/bgb/mechanical/volume1/cooling_system.htm Dont however put coolant then water in, if its not pre-mix stuff then you need to mix it first, approx 50/50 then put it in. I did mine a week ago and used 10 litres of pr...

Emgine in

I would say leave the engine in. (Save a few days of work) Dont do the cambelt or water pump, just drop the gearbox. (Save approx £100) Minimum of a new release bearing, max new clutch complete. (Save approx £80) Strip engine down to find leak, most likley rocker gasket. Just my 2p worth, only on th...
