I ended up replacing my alarm with a Falcon Predator Evo3 pager alarm as it was easier and cheaper then trying to find replacements for the Scorpion alarm.

Alpine SWD-1600 will fit under the seat. SWE-1000 has more kick but wont fit under the seat or behind if you have the seat all the way back.

You can live without it, it only raises the rpm at idle a little to help with electrical load.

Blue connector should go to an idle up valve that is activated when there's extra electrical load like turning the fans or lights on, it raises revs by a couple hundred rpm. If you get yourself a timing light gun it's a very simple diy job.

I use to run Infinity Kappa 3.5" rears and 4" front. Your never going to get decent low end from speakers that size so added an alpine swe-1000 after also having an alpine swd-1600.

Cone filter direct to throttle body is the usual aftermarket way to go. There's plenty of cold air flow through the engine bay.

Another tip, when setting the idle with the idle screw make sure everything electrical including lights, blowers etc is turned off. Made this mistake before and revs kept dropping too low.

Regulator and bearings have to be the 2 most common things to fail on the mk1 alternator.

My old mk1would always burn a bit of oil and have mayo in the cap at times, especially in wet humid conditions.

Greens in Leicester will recon your older starter for alot less than a new one.

Never used a torque wrench, just do it up tight.

I always found full hard to much for our roads. The ride was crashy and the rear would lift to much on bumps. I use to run them half way, kept the car flat while remaining comfortable.

When mine did this it was the IC regulator on top of the alternator at fault which needed replacing.

Have you checked the dizzy cap and arm?
