Re: time for a better sound system
Not many easy options for the mk1 as you have 4 speakers in the front and 3.5" in the rear. These produce little or no bass so a small active sub behind or under the seat is an option. Some build sub boxes but there isn't space if you have the seat all the way back. I currently run infinity ka...

Re: Battlefield 4......
I play on a 110" projector and only sit 2.5-3m's away. I've tried playing on a small LCD but don't get on with it. BF3's soundtrack is crazy as well, I often play with my subwoofer turned off. Cant wait for BF4, Black Ops 2 is boring now, its never changed and the servers always have issues. Yo...

Remove the alternator belt and start the car.
Will help narrow it down as if the noise goes its either the alternator bearing, water pump or the bottom pulley delaminated.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

I've never had any problems with my Cat C mk1.
I've always been with Admiral and when It was written of they required a VIC check and engineers report to insure it again.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

When i did my konis back in 2007 my original droplinks were cut and welded to save time and hassle.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Last year i replaced the fronts with ford ones of ebay for
£12 as i thought i had a knock and i'm still running the original rears.
There not even sleeved aswell, just cut and welded.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

Re: How much would you value this car at?
Cat C/D doesn't affect insurance, mines a Cat C now from a small bump in the drivers side rear arch. To get near £2k and above you need to have rust free body work which is solid underneath and have the mechanics sorted. I plan to run mine into the ground, break it and replace it with a mk3. PS. It ...

Re: The List So Far
Stripe the brakes down and give them a good clean, the sliders like to get stuck after time. Belt could just need more tension as its stretched over time. Clutch leaks are alot more common at the salve cylinder end. Coming from a modern car the clutch can feel a little heavy. The petrol smell is due...

4" front, 3.5" rear.
Carefull on the depth of the fronts as there isnt alot of space to fit deep speakers.
I had to cut the tweeter grill of the infinity 4032cf's to get them to fit behind the stock grill, they have a mounting depth of 48mm.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

Scissor jacks are dangerous fall stop, the old V shaped ones that came with vauxhalls should be banded.
