Re: Rev 1 mk2 mr2 avoid?

Many (if not all?) Rev1's also has smaller stock wheels (14").

Also, don't forget, as a Pre-1995 car, the exhaust emissions are less strict, so easier to fit a de-cat (and keep it de-catted come MOT time).

Re: Brands Indy in a Rev2 .....

Hi all, We took our little yellow thing to Brands on Monday 205 t1r's on the front and better pads improved the car two fold. The new steering wheel etc also added to the experience. Still plenty more to get out of it with a front suspension overhaul and poly bush, more camber all round, more braci...

Re: mr2 as a trackcar - honest opinion

Haha, posting on an MR2 forum asking whether an MR2 would make a good track car, lol  ... Anyway, besides the fact that you are bound to get biased views on here, in all honestly I can say that an MR2 makes an excellent track car. :thumleft: I have been running an NA Mk2 for a few years now and...

What tyres on 16" 6.5J wheels

So, I inherited a free set of 16" wheels with 5x114.3 PCD, and I believe a 45mm offset, so theoretically these wheels will fit the MR2, but the question is what tyres would I put on them? According to what I have found so far, recommended tyre widths for 6.5J wheels are 185 minimum, 195 or 205 ...

Re: Newbie - wanting to build a trackday mr2 on a budget

Induction kit ? .... please. It adds pretty much nothing, apart from the noise. Get a good panel filter and you're set. Agreed that an induction kit won't add many more horses on it's own. In fact, we all know that there isn't much that can be done to add much more power to an NA without major work...

Re: Newbie - wanting to build a trackday mr2 on a budget

Just to add my opinion... Suspension - If you are on a budget, I would suggest that coilovers are not going to provide the best 'bang per buck' - i.e. they will be expensive. You will be quite all right with a set of lower / stiffer springs on the standard shocks (unless your shocks are shot, of cou...

Re: [All] [Generic] Which MOMO wheels are these?

MOMO Twin... That's great, thanks! :thumleft: I got these on a 'spare' 2 that I recently bought for spare parts, but wasn't sure what they were - Now I know... Only problem now is that I fitted them to my car at the weekend but noticed a lot of vibration through the steering wheel, so I took them to...

Nope, not yet, too much rain, and I had to replace brake pads first, then I fitted new exhaust. Hopefully will get them on soon if this rain goes away!! Will get pics up once done

Re: Saving weight with a new exhaust...

what db does the exhuast kick out?? I wouldnt mind getting a lighter exhaust but its needs to be under 100db!! Not much chance of it being under 100db, I'm afraid... Under 105db, yes, but not under 100db, not without other work on baffling, additional silencing, either on the downpipe or bungs in t...

Re: Exhaust - Weight difference - Stock v Japspeed (N/A)

I was under the impression cars built after a certain year need a cat to be fitted. Not just to pass the emissions test with or without one... :-k Nope, so long as you can pass the emissions test for your given car it matters not whether you have a cat or not. Indeed, it is all about the emissions....

Got the last bits sorted yesterday, and exhaust is now fully fitted (with new bolts all-round!!), looking great and sounding awesome! :thumleft:

Took it for a test drive and very sweet. Can't wait to take it for a proper run in the morning. :D

Re: Exhaust - Weight difference - Stock v Japspeed (N/A)

don't you need a cat for MOT if it's post-1993? Japspeed is also exceptionally loud - way too loud for me :) I use my car as a track toy, so not a problem. Although you don't specifically "need" a Cat for an MOT, but rather need to meet emissions limits, which are based on the age/year of...

Exhaust - Weight difference - Stock v Japspeed (N/A)

Replaced my stock exhaust with a JapSpeed one over the weekend... Just thought that I would put up a post on the weight differences, as it really is quite a lot!! Stock = 21.05kg (including Cat) JapSpeed = 7.85kg (replaces Cat) Difference = 13.20kg ... That's a LOT!!! :thumleft:

[Mk2] [Generic] Fitting a new exhaust... Bolts rusted on solid!!!... Dremel time! :D

Started fitting my lovely shiny (not for long, no doubt!!) JapSpeed exhaust today... However, the bolts on my old exhaust were absolutely the worst that I have ever seen... It took over an hour and a half with the dremel (cutting and grinding) to get the blasted things off!! Not a nice job! It is am...

Yes, I believe you are correct - It will be interesting to see how much mine drops from before to after.
