Re: Central locking

i had the same problem with mine. it was the white switch with the 3 wires coming from it. i undid the two screws then pulled the switch apart-it is in two halves. i dropped some fresh solder on all the contacts that appeared worn and reassembled. it has been fine since.

Re: 4* MT black mk2 A5 near Tamworth

Mines a red mk2 rev 1 n/a. got rev 2 engine, loom, brakes, suspension in it now-so might as well be a rev 2! got a tom's scoop on it too.

fitting an alarm/immobiliser.

i've got one to fit and looking through the instructions it seems i need to determine whether the central locking is positive or negative trigger and also if the indicators are positive or negative switching. any ideas?

car is a mk 2 rev 2 and alarm is a toad AI606.

Re: cambelt is totaly diffrent whats going on!!!

just been looking in a book that gives info on timing belts for a range of cars. it's got the 3s-fe and 5s-fe down as having a spring loaded tensioner and the 3s-ge as having a hydraulic one. like i said though mine runs ok with the spring type. i've had mine 2 1/2 years and my mate had it 2 years b...

Re: cambelt is totaly diffrent whats going on!!!

My rev2 n/a doesn't have the hydraulic tensioner either mate. what i've got sounds similar to yours. you should have a spring that self-tensions the belt. i was puzzled too at first but i put it all back together with a new belt and it runs fine.

idle too high?

what should the idle speed be on my n/a mk 2 rev 2? just finished putting the engine in and it's idling at about 1250 rpm, with the throttle cable completely slackened off. It's been 4 months since it was last running and i can't remember what it was idling at then.
