Re: How much power can the standard pistons take??
I believe its not so much the power your running but more how you are running that power. Example:- 1 engine producing 500BHP using excellent cooling, colder plugs and mapped absolutely spot on. 2 engine producing 500BHP though intake charge is a lot hotter and prone to Det. Its more than likely det...

Re: My New MR2 after a clean
Car looks very nice mate but how come you've got an air bag type steering wheel on a 92 plate.
Mines a Rev 3 94 model and theres no air bag on that

Re: Crank position sensor/random wires
Your correct, they don't have a crank position sensor.
All the triggers are in the distributor, the crank position is worked out from the cam shaft position, as is the sequential injector firing.

Re: [Mk2 Turbo] Fighting against cracked blocks?
It has been mentioned in many posts about the Gargle noises the Tubbys cooling system makes after the engine is switched off. As the coolant is no longer pumped around it sits in the head and boils, passing the pressure cap and into the overflow, once cool the coolant is sucked back. Many car manufa...

Re: Pressure drop after fitting Charge Cooler
Boost is back up to the preset 15psi, it was a boost leak as many mentioned.
A small pipe had come off under the Dizzy.
Thanks for everyones opinions on this, you've been a great help

The boost measurement is being taken from the engine side, after the throttle body.
The boost gauge is plumbed in the same line as the MAP sensor.

Pressure drop after fitting Charge Cooler
I have recently fitted a Pace 3 core charge cooler to my Tubby. With the standard intercooler boost was reading 15psi now it reads 13psi. I have a few ideas as to why this is the case though would appreciate peoples fews on these and their opinions? 1:- A boost leak is occuring in the new boost pipe...

Re: Intake temperatures on 3SGTE
I was thinking on the lines of using a Digital thermometer and also have found the range aint big enough, max 50 oC. Does anyone know if its possible to plumb a display into the factory air temperature sensor on the inlet manifold? Also, can anyone recommend a good Digi thermometer that will read + ...

Re: Just had the 2 on a RR for a power run! :(
I think your extremely lucky mate. Having a Turbo charged car under full load without air going to the intercooler could easily of ended in serious DET and engine damage. They sound like a load of Pumpers that know foooook all, just as well it was free although this wouldn't of helped if it had of g...

Yes Steve, It was I who sold it you.
Hope you like?
Should be able to pipe it up for no more than £50, that makes for a good value aftermarket intercooler, Enjoy

Re: ID my intercooler
Hey Steve, Good to see you got the intercooler, with regard to the pipes. You will not be able to weld Aluminium with a Mig welder, you'd need a TIG welder, these are v-expensive. Wot your best of doing is getting hold of some stainless steel tube (2.5 inch maybe 3 inch) and a couple of silicone 90 ...

Re: Koni shockers on Import Nightmare!
In order to fit the Koni inserts you'll need the rebuildable struts, these were found on the Rev 1 & 2 MR2's.
I have 2 fronts and 2 rear strut bodies sitting in my shed, which I will happily part with.
Should you be interested, drop me a PM.

Re: ECU stuff
Do the MK2 Ecu's for the Turbo versions use an eprom, if this is the case it can be read and the mapping changed.
This would be better than shelling out on Stand alone engine managment.
Just an idea??????

Re: Koni Shock Tool
I fitted Koni inserts to my Tubby and used some stillens to tighten the glad nut. The front shocks knocked from day 1, i thought it was the strut top mounts. These were replaced, the knock was still there, replaced the spring cup, knocking still there. Retightend the glad nut, massive torque on it a...

Re: Clutch Slippage
I too have fitted the XTD 6 pucka clutch to my Rev3 tubby and am experiencing clutch slip in 3rd gear and above. I wouldn't mind if I was putting out 500BHP but the car is almost standard (260BHP ish). The clutch pedal is lighter than the Mrs Renault Clio, feels like the pressure plate is propper we...
