Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] head gasket maybe?? help please.

that was done with....

car warmed up
all spark plugs out
king lead disconected
efi fuse pulled
throttle wide open
engine turned over 8-10 times.

also tryed it again after poring some oil in the bores and leaving it for a few mins.

same results.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] would you bother with cam upgrades? rev1 ct20

soooo... its looking like rev3 cams are the way to go. they should drop right in without any setting up.

and a better manifold wouldnt go a miss either.

cant see either things in the sale section or ebay.... :(

any ideas what i should be paying for these things?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] would you bother with cam upgrades? rev1 ct20

so to sum this up so far..... marty .. you think under 500bhp im wasting my time jj you think cam upgrades are good at any level of bhp jim , you think an exhaust cam upgrade would be the way forward luke. you think the opposite .. that an inlet cam is the way to go this is exactly the problem ive f...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] head gasket maybe?? help please.

id agree totally lewis at my present power goals..... but i cant help thinking. if im gonna have to rebuild the top end ... why not do it properly. and in the future if i do decide to go forged bottom end and bigger turbo, then the top end will be ready for it. hence why im also thinking of upgradin...

[Mk2] [Turbo] would you bother with cam upgrades? rev1 ct20

its looking like i may have to do my hg. so while its off i was thinking maybe upgrade the cams.

but then im thinking is it worth it on a ct20 turbo?

possibilities are....

stick with my cams ( rev1 )
stick in rev 3 cams (if i can find some cheap)
stick in some hks/piper etc 264's

your thoughts?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] head gasket maybe?? help please.

[Mk2] [Turbo] head gasket maybe?? help please.

just fitted an ebc in place of mbc (running at 1.1bar) the ebc wont hit anything more than 0.8 bar. even after playing with the boost settings and gain control. after a few hard runs on high boost, the temp gauge goes through the roof and it blows all the coolant out the overflow bottle in a cloud o...
