Hmmmmm Stef, Can of worms that one, has provoked a lot of discussion too, A-CIS came on Rev3 MR2's and consists of 1 butterfly in the inlet manifold but IMO and lots of others the Mk1, Mk2 rev1 & rev2 have TVIS as it works the same as the 8 butterfly one in that it opens a bigger plenum chamber...

Well all I can say is that I have the TVIS off the car at the moment as I am in the process of painting the cam cover and the butterfly's are definitely open. I will take a sideways picture so that this can be more easily seen.
