Check the captive nuts in the subframe where the lower arms fix to it...one of mine broke free and gave exactly those symptoms....got a spare subframe and once that was fitted no more shimmy side to side.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] V6 Weapon
Good choice going for the v6 you wont regret it! Arent the turbo boxes higher reving though, you mention you kept it for the fuel economy but Ive heard the revs are up at 4k at 80mph? Ive got the NA gearbox and still find it a bit high reving but there is so much power constantly on tap. Always put...

V6 Video Clips From Our Eurotrip With Engine Sound
First of all I'm not posting this for people to critique my driving style or speed, or lack of it..... I have had plenty of that on the OC :D I just thought people might be more interested in engine noise than my previous choice of backing tracks ( see previous video posted). Anyway onto the clip!! ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] momo boss kit
Sounds like your car is in fact a Rev1 car which needs a different Momo boss to Rev2+ cars.
Rev1 cars have the brass ring contact, Rev2 + cars have the flying wire lead.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] what suspension setup do you run???
I have yellow B6 Bilsteins mated with Eibach Pro-Kit -25mm lowering springs and a full set of poly bushes front and rear. IMO they give a perfect compromise between comfort and handling. I used to have Tein S-Tech springs on the Bilsteins but for me they were way too harsh on our mostly bumpy UK roa...

San Bernadino Pass In Switzerland
As some may know we are currently on a bit of a European tour in the V6. After much messing around I have managed to get a video clip uploaded of our trip down the San Bernadino Pass in Switzerland. Excuse the lack of V6 noise and the soundtrack but for some reason the conversion software I have bug...

The nut pulls the two bushes into the arm...one either side.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Wobble/shake of whole car?
That could be your problem...the nut should be pulled up tight squashing the rubber or in my case poly bushes into the arm. See picture below.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Whats needed in full suspension replacement?
That Sir is a brilliant write up. Well done. Just out of interest do you think new bumpstops are always required or did you just replace 'em to make everything new and shiny. Also out if interest would you agree with the way I'm doing mine considering I can't afford to do it all at once. I mean top...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Wobble/shake of whole car?
I had this with mine and it turned out that one of the captive nuts inside the rear subframe that is the attachment point for the lower arm had broken loose and was allowing the lower arm to move about. the best way I can describe it is that the back of the car used to 'shimmy' left and right. I got...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Just how bad were the rev1s?
Rear subframes from Rev2 onwards are all identical, AFAIK the only things that were changed suspension wise Rev3 onwards different to Rev2 were spring rates and damper rates...this is born out by the different part numbers for those items from Rev3 onwards. Changes from Rev1 to Rev2 were more major,...

[Mk2] [Generic] Eurotrip Summer 2008
As some may or may not know, my other half and I are doing a Eurotrip in August. I've created a Blog to document and log our Eurotrip to the Italian/Swiss/French Alps, where we plan to take in most of the Topgear 'Greatest Driving Roads'. The plan is to post our preparation for the trip and then dur...

Re: [All] [Generic] Leatherette re-trims - anyone got experience with this company?
Reminds me of the 70's when all cars came with 'Leatherette' seats...in the summer they were hot, sticky and sweaty euwwwwwww, think carefully before doing this...real leather has a much more natural feel imo, I know which one I prefer.
