Re: getn my v6 this sat - need driving advice!

The one piece of advice I would give to someone driving a V6 MR2 for the first time is to be aware of the torque. Even though my V6 @ 208bhp only makes 42bhp more than my 3S-GE engine did, it makes over 70 ft lb's more torque. If it is even remotely damp then 2nd gear corners and roundabouts are now...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Tein springs too hard need softer springs ???

I fitted Tein S-Techs to Yellow Bilsteins and ran the car for 9 months with them on before I decided enough was enough....they were fantastic on billiard smooth roads and track but anything else was a nightmare. Incidently the guy I sold the Teins to, ended up disliking them too despite being warned...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Handling - whats best geometry & ride height wise?

I would say that optimum ride height would be where the lower arms front and rear are either horizontal or hub end slightly lower than inner end. if you lower your car then obviously the hub end becomes higher than the inner mounting affecting the roll center. What you need to then fit are what are ...

Re: Dyno Day Result

It is really easy to just sit in 4th or 5th and just roll on and off the throttle. V6 is the 3VZ-FE out of a Camry It's running on the Camry auto ECU which is believed to be causing the fuelling and hence torque/bhp dropoff.... I'm Having tubular manifolds manufactured and fitted tomorrow and then t...

Dyno Day Result

Went to a Dyno day at Weston Performance last month and have just got around to sorting a pic of my printout. My car (V6) managed a healthy 208.6bhp (fly) 173 bhp (wheels) with 215 ft lb torque. Mods are..port & polish and de-restricted exhaust. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b13/Poohbear9044...

Re: HELP ! Not sure about V6 conversion

There will always be an argument for the turbo, and one for the V6. I've had both. The turbo was an animal, making well over 450bhp at the flywheel with 360ft/lb of torque at 5500rpm. Very fast, but it was an absolute pig to drive. The V6 is making close to 200 at the wheels and somewhere around 22...

Re: HELP ! Not sure about V6 conversion

great times bob, and excellent 60ft I here. But it's obvious you can drive the v6 and the tubby owners can't drive there's on that day, LOL. The rev4 should be running 13.6-13.8 easy enough as standard. Lightly modded rev1/2s should be running the same or quicker. Just to get this into perspective,...

Re: HELP ! Not sure about V6 conversion

As a V6 owner I'm bound to say do it you wont regret it...I had a perfectly good 3S-GE in my car which I might add is living a new life in a mates two so there was nothing wrong with it, I just wanted a bit more. My car is now far far quicker than it was previously it just pulls and pulls in any gea...

Re: Hydraulic lifters or shims in a mk2 n/a ?

On Rev3 cars instead of having the shim sitting in the top of the bucket that fits over the end of the valve they have them fitted inside the bucket....the benefit is that the shims cannot be spat out when high lift cams are fitted.

One thing I would add is that it's not necessarily impossible to resecure the captive nuts inside the subframe but it does involve cutting access holes so that they can be welded.
