Re: [Mk2] [NA] Call me stupid but.....

A feed wire behind the immobiliser is where mine was. Had to remove part of drivers side under dash panel.
Once you locate wiring to unit it will be obvious.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Car running rough after sitting for a while

yeah sounds like a fuel problem, either oxidation in injectors or crap in filter maybe?
Try the fuel additive first.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Car running rough after sitting for a while

Sometimes a good run up the street for a few miles is better than just sitting stationary trying to warm up.
Try that and report back after approx 8-10 miles of running.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Call me stupid but.....

Tried that but get no flashes, in fact the "check engine"light doesn't even appear at all!

I've shorted the HT lead from the coil to ground and turned the engine over without getting a spark , so it's looking at maybe replacing the coil unless i can test it for a fault?

[Mk2] [NA] Call me stupid but.....

1. How do i find a fault code?
2. as above but with a vehicle that won't start?
3. how do i test to see if either the distibutor or coil is dead? (there is no spark at plugs).
4. check that it's not the factory fitted immobilliser thats gone pop, stopping it starting?

:-k :-k :-k

[Mk2] [NA] Dead engine help!

I went to start my normally first time starting '92 mk 2 yesterday and it wont!
The fuel pump is still heard pumping and engine turns over no probs but no starting, not even half a spark. Could this be a malfunction with the
Immobiliser or any other ideas please?

Power steering answer please

I recently had a power steering problem but soon fixed it using the ‘ignition on/off ‘ loads of time routine. My power steering light came on after parking up for a short while and wasn’t working at all for the return trip home. I checked on this board for possible solutions/fixes and after reading ...

Re: replaced rear pads- but handbrake now rubbish!

I'm in the process of replacing my rear discs and pads and have browsed through this thread and taken most of it in but missed the bit about a tool to turn the piston in with. Do i need a special tool for this or not? #-o

Re: Cambelt cost??

I've just had a new one fitted by a mechanic friend who swore he'd never fit another! It took him the best part of 5 hours and it was still the original on there so bolts were a bit tight and difficult to undo (think he struggled big time with the crank pulley). My mk2 has done 78000 miles so it ne...
