Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Ecumaster emu

Just wondering if anyone on here has fitted one of these and has first hand experience of running it a while.

I can find these on line for £650 which given the features seems a good deal compared to the other (often 2nd hand) stuff available at this price.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] MR2 TDI

Had a look at your scimitar thread on PH the other night - strewth not shy of a bit of work are you??
Looks good with the black hint of chrome and those alloys, fair play.

Also, like your jet engine, bearing press and the bio diesel maker.
Expect a few questions in the future!!!!

Re: [Mk2] [NA] MR2 TDI

+1 on a good idea and an interesting project. I went diesel a few years ago with Golf 2.0TDi and although the low down grunt & 48mpg is great I still enjoy getting in my 2 for the odd drive. However 25mpg does take the shine off. Combining the two good feelings seems like a winning idea. When yo...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Clutch Problem - Hydraulic circuit.

Thanks for the reply. The fact that it only seems to be doing it with the engine running had me confused - with no servo or anything it had me wondering what was going on. I put a new Mr.T master cylinder kit in around 2008 - I would hope it lasts longer than that! Unless the system is taking a poun...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Clutch Problem - Hydraulic circuit.

Had a problem on my rev.2 turbo last week where the clutch pedal went to the floor and did not spring up. Got the car home and by the time I got to look at things the pedal came back and all was well........ for about 5 mins then it did it again. Left it again and with the engine off I pumped the cl...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] clear coating polished aluminium

I spoke to a wheel refurb place about this in the past. They said the problem is the polishing flattens / smoothes the metal and removes any 'key' for the lacquer to cling to and so it ends up flaking off in a short time. I know what you mean though - after spending ages on the polishing you don't w...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Berk Rev2 to Rev3 ECU harness -???

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Best value standalone ECU?

If you don't mind me asking - how did you get on with the Unichip? I would say it must have been fairly well if you're considering re-fitting it. The reason i ask is I have a CT20b fitted to a rev2 with forged pistons etc and am in need of a ecu. I bought a dastek a while ago but never got round to ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] ST205 Chargecooler Installation Guide (non 56k friendly)

I'm currently amassing the parts I need to do this conversion and hope to get it fitted soon. Could anyone advise on what is a tried and tested way to get the stock re-circ valve assembly from the rev.2 tubby to work correctlyt with the st205 c/c set up? I've not heard good report of rev. 2's runnin...

Re: Link Storm G4 and mapping deal

Just checked on the Thor site and Link have now released a G4 Atom that they class as an entry level ECU. List price is £599 +vat. Any chance of getting a GB sorted on these? It seems that the original poster did a bit of leg work with Thor and Ryan back at the beginning and I don't want to tread on...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Code 34 with FCD fitted - any help??

Cheers guys, the only reason I was trying to elliminate bost cut was just to prove that the fcd is working. I suppose I was expecting the potentiometer in it to have a maximum clockwise position whereby no cut would be happening. I'm a bit miffed that the car is hitting boost cut so I just need to c...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Code 34 with FCD fitted - any help??

Since the improvements to the weather I've had a few cases where my 1993 turbo with ct20b and TBD MBC (at 15psi) and FCD is hitting boost cut and throwing up a code 34 error message. Now I thought the FCD was able to elliminate boost cut totally. The potentiometer screw on mine is able to turn and t...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Rev.1 / Rev.2 Distributor caps interchangable??

Does any one know if I can fit a rev. 1 distributor cap (non clip fitting for the HT leads) to my rev. 2 distributor body? I have a set of non clip magnecor leads (presume off a rev.1 turbo) and am wondering if I change to the earlier dist. cap then I can use them instead of swapping for the correct...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 1990 SPEC A TOM'S Tec ECU

I had thought about that as it would allow me to use a regular Power FC plus there are benefits with losing the AFM. Now as far as nuts and bolts go I don't have any problems - I actually enjoyed rebuliding the motor myself. But electronics is not my specialist subject and altering pin outs and stuf...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 1990 SPEC A TOM'S Tec ECU

I'm really not after a load of power. I was quite happy with things as they were before the stock turbo went and I found a brand new, steel shaft turbo tecnics ct20b on ebay. Stripping the engine showed the oil & water pump were not great and a few marks on the bores --- then the spending starte...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 1990 SPEC A TOM'S Tec ECU

Glad I've just seen this. I came onto ask a question about the SARD and Blitz ecus on the bay at the mo. General opinion seems to be to leave them alone then unless you can sort out the software! I'm at the point where I need a mapable ecu for my rev.2 It's got a ct20b, forged pistons, steel gasket ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] ST205 Chargecooler Installation Guide (non 56k friendly)

Great thread this. I've got a set up that I plan to fit in the next month or two so I'll be using this as a workshop manual. Just a quick question though. The kit I have has a Celica ST205 rad. It seems that the Fiat Cinq. rad is the normal choice. Has anyone ever fitted a stock ST205 front rad to a...
