Re: please save this super rare mk1

MK1 noob here, but what's so special about this? It's only about 5 minutes away from me btw... It's an AW10 chassis as opposed to an AW11. Externally visually similar to the AW11 Mk1a however has a 1.5 litre engine and looking at the interior a spec I have never seen before if a little grey. This i...

I'm not liking the stretched tyre and wheel combo. Not seen it done on a mk1 before and it's not for me: each to their own I guess.

I'm sure I'be seen those photos before. Has this one done the rounds on here previously? It looks very very good and if is all it appears and claims to be then that's a good price IMO.

Re: D, F & G reg Mk 1s free spares or repair, Winchester Hampshire

I have 3 Mk1s as above on the drive, that need to go. Before they go to the scrap yard, does anyone want any bits? Free to good homes, but you may have to come and take them off yourselves! :) Got a black D reg sitting on the drive? Sorry no, but it's dark blue if that helps... Ok, I'm specifically...

Re: Kbox and import duty

Check the declaration label attached to the parcel. I have received parcels from abroad where they have an option to tick Gift. In these instance you don't normally get charged import duty.

Re: Kbox and import duty

I've bought from KBox a few times and got hit once for import duty. I've always surmised that its because the items come from Canada as other items I've had delivered from Canada have not all had import duty levied on them. Buying from the USA is a different matter. I find it has a lot to do with w...

Re: CLUTCH Identification? Which to buy?

There's only one sure fire way to know which you've got and that's to get at it and check it. I had a later clutch and flywheel on my engine even though the engine is clearly Mk1a. This is the problem with the 86 cross-over cars. As it happens, I now have an early lightweight flywheel and an early c...

Re: Yet another dumb oil filter question

If I remember correctly the J1 part is the Mk1a part and the J2 part is the Mk1b (actually its probably mroe related to engine year than model but I'll stick with the differentation if you don't mind). The former is a short stubby filter whilst the latter is about 1.5 times the length. Both will fit...

Re: Front wings.

If you or whoever fits them takes time and care with the fibreglass wings then fit and finish can have a factory look and feel. This can make the overall initial cost greater than that of fitting new MrT wings and having them painted. The principle advantage is of course rust, or rather the lack of ...

Re: Mk1 exhaust manifold & Vibration noise?

Years ago I had a similar issue. Ended up unbolting everything, taking a wire brush mounted on a drill to thoroughly clean up both faces, reconnecting everything with new gaskets and then having to torque everything back up again after a couple of hot and cold cycles. Never had an issue again.
