Re: what is this place?

I think Patrick at Rogue owns the .co.uk domain (and has done for a while) and usually has it pointing here, I'm guessing he'll point it at the new site whenever he gets around to it. Seeing as he's a director on here, hopefully it'll still point here  ...that really wouldn't be cricket th...

Trouble is my parents helped me out when I found a car I really wanted so I didn't have to sell this first and secondly I only have on street parking ](*,) If I could hang on until spring or summer I would coz I could prolly get a fair bit more but I just wanna...

Welcome to the forum. If you are interested, the local chapter of the MK1 Club holds monthly meets at the Wiggin Tree, Parbold Hill, so not a million miles from you. The next one is this Sunday around 12.30.

Enjoy the NEC show and again, welcome.

Re: Leaky Mk1a - sunroof?

I had to leave my Mk1 outside for a couple of days, which unfortunately conincided with some heavy rain. I then noticed that the headlining on the drivers side was damp, and there was a small puddle of water in the bonnet release catch (on the rear firewall). I guess the most likely possibilities a...

Update.....

Thanks to all who turned up. We are achieving reasonable numbers despite the evenings drawing in and the weather 'Up North' not being the friendliest in the world. It is however reasonably predictable weather, i.e. rain, rain a bit more rain and if you are lucky maybe a bit of lighter rain. 7 cars i...

LOL - out abroad kit was similar, but Garrick and i decided to take a spare alternator and starter motor too   Ba...

Re: In case of emergency

If you are using the car as your daily driver then get a spare set of bulbs. I also carry jump leads, spare length of vacuum hosing (1m), gaffer tape, foot pump, tyre pressure gauge because the gauges in garages and on the foot pump are rubbish, Swiss Army knife, torch, latex gloves, rag (blue roll)...

Re: Rough cost guesstimate on flywheel?

As a guide....

... I paid circa £200 for a light weight flywheel second hand in good condition. This I think was over the odds but was still a £100 saving on brand new so bit the bullet.

Re: Back on the road again - Black Mk1 - Pics 56k alert

The MR2 book by Long has the colour referred to as Monochrome Black Metallic. The paint code is 204 I think. It is 204... whereas my mk1 looks a slightly grey/black if that makes sense? I guess maybe that's why the colour is Monochrome Black metallic rather than just Black metallic. :-k That does m...

Re: Which induction kit?

Any performance gain is negligible IMO however I did notice a throttle reposne improvement. With the standard 1a system fitted there seemed to be a slight delay in response which went away when the cone filter was fitted. I have no experience of the stqndard 1b system to coimpare with though.

Re: Which induction kit?

Thanks j0nathan. Where does the cold air pipe actually go? The cold air feed is usually positioned with it's end down below where the mk1a has its intake inlet (towards the bulkhad between the passenger compartment and the engine bay - way down below the battery tray) with the other end directing a...
