I was just about to say that. I like the seats. The seats are nice. Yup, I'm having trouble moving on from there.

Not necessarily. They are extremely simple little devices. Remove, disassemble, wire wool and elbow grease cleans them up nicely. If they are really past it once you have looked at them then get new ones

Re: Mark 1 Super Editon on eBay!!

237k is pretty galactic, I'm not sure what parts would be worth having off it TBH. The engine would need a rebuild and if the shocks were original they'd be near stuffed. :-k It would need a rebuild however it's still a great starting point for a 4AGTE. There's no way the shocks could be original s...

Probably, but to be fair, at the moment it is worth more in parts than as a whole.

Re: Hi, Im new (ish)

I've been trying to find out more about his car and going by the chassis number it was built in 1989, so definitely not a crossover car. Tin tops were JDM only (or least never available in the UK) so every chance that the standard location for the aerial is on the roof. Tin top! That would account ...

Re: Hi, Im new (ish)

Can't shed any light on the start motor issue but reading the thread I'd definately say that you have a cross-over vehicle. i wasn't sure until you mentioned the roof aerial - I really can not think of why anyone would go to the pain of trying to convert the 1b position of the aerial to the 1a. It's...

Re: Bumper support bar....

Rear one rarely seems to corrode at all in my experience - are you sure you need the rear one too ? The one on my black MK1 was in this case the extreme exception to this rule. I reckon it must have been parked ar$e end in a swimming pool for a year. Other Mk1s I've seen and the red one I had were ...

wow that was one interesting read about airflow. the rear spoiler is next to useless  Don't forget that all that info is only based on airflow coming directly from the front of the car and flowing to the rear of the car and does not take into account airflow travelling across the car when co...

I totally get the torque thing. But Paul, you should race an NA round a track when there's 30 similar cars round you all vying for first place, there's no way that's not fun whatever the engine. ...and you should get that damn twin charger finished. We all want to see/hear it in action. :-)

Re: Rust to roof/windscreen area. Advice please!

Hiya Jimbo, Hope you are well. Might I suggest an alternative to monkeying around with the windscreen: pay to have it removed and then put back in by autoglass or similar. This is what the body shop did for mine. If they break it in the process then they have to replace it. It's a lot easier that wa...

I couldn't get a kit when I bought mine and in the end bought the fronts and the rears separately. Cost more that way but I must have got lucky for I did not have any of the issues you've had. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Re: Quiz of the week.

Is it the heat shield that goes above the exhaust? Nah. I thought that the ribs and the holes would give it a way so didn't want to make it too big. Clue: If you've got a MK1 you've probably had to change this and for aw11rally's benefit, this was the least rusty part of it - the rest was pretty mu...
