Re: would like up BHP till about 300

Im not sure i phrased that properly, i was originally referring to the stock rev 1&2 gasket where ive seen 2 blow (the original), then saying it might be a good upgrade to put a rev 3 mls gasket on.

Re: would like up BHP till about 300

Had one blow on my old rev 2, mate blew his rev 1 was a few years ago mind you. Sure I've seen many more on here in past. A lot of it might be people saying it just because they heard someone mention it on here. I'm not saying it will blow, but surely it's nowhere near as strong and forgiving as a m...

Re: MK2 REV3 Turbo GTS - Correct Engine Oil?

10w 30 is a bit on the thin side, 5w40 or 10w40 will be fine for a road car both fully synthetic, the 5w40 is more readily available in fully syn. People who use semi syn would be advised to change it every 3k, fully syn will be fine for 5-6k id have thought. Loads of threads on this and a million d...

Re: time for a self service!

Leave the leads unless you suspect they are giving you problems, Dont spend a fortune on iridium plugs as above BKR7E plugs are the ones to get and they are about 2 quid each.

Re: just bought an mr2, will it survive a track day?

Well for 400 quid why spend money on it, id just run it into ground trackday or otherwise.
The belt will have been done at some point its highly unlikely it would last that long as the service interval is 5 years or 50-60k i think.

Sounds like a boost leak maybe, take a photo on a camera phone and post it, I'll tell you if it's right straight away.

Re: Just about to buy a Turbo....

On both tubbys ive owned, Temp guage needle sat at about 1mm below half way and only took a couple of minutes to get there. So if it takes a while or stays low then the thermostat probably needs changing. The fluttering seems odd, any smoke?, check for boost leak? Mr2's not the most comfortable car ...

I think 1800 is optimistic considering it has a slipping clutch too, plenty of tidy rev 3's struggling to get 2k at the moment. Just being honest.

Re: what is the cheapest insurance co. for mr2 turbo's?

Be careful with Adrian Flux, I took out a policy with them. I insured my car with 5 years ncb they rang my old insurance company to confirm and admiral told them i had 4 years ncb a mistake by them. Instead of telling me so i could sort it out they doubled my excess and removed protection from my nc...
