Re: Turbo's with High mileage whats the scoop?/concern

Another factor is if it has 100k and its a 2nd car then you won't be putting many miles on it, running a 100k car as a daily and you might run into some maintenance issues.
I run mine as a 2nd car with 90k on it, and i put 3k a year on it so i dont worry about it.

Re: i want this

Trouble is £2100 for a rev 1 is a lot really id want it to be spotless for that, the 50k miles would concern me too. Sounds like a cheap project but someone has given up (the 3x gauges not wired up and the fact its on a jack at the front in the pic). Might be ok and worth ringing him but if it needs...

Re: So is a UK conversion to turbo car one to avoid?? or OK if done right?

The nay sayers are usually the ones who wished they had bought a turbo, like any car of this age it will require some maintenance but in my experience of 3 mr2 turbos i dont find them unreliable at all. The main problems i've had are sticking brakes and worn suspension components which are easy enou...

Take your time and like said before you can find a decent rev 1 Or 2 for 1500, glad you didn't hand any money over lucky escape , at best you would probably have to break it to recover the money provably hassle you don't need.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Best way to remove needles??

The GPS method worked for me in the end, just hold it at 30 while your mate sticks the needle back on (safety), we put it back on so it overread by a couple of mph like most speedos do.

a bit of soapy water wont hurt it :/, probably gets a lot worse in a rain storm, if that bothers you take it off only four bolts

Jack car up and check that your brakes are not binding, if there not go take it for the wheels balancing, most of the time its one of them 2.

If its a 2nd car and your over 25 try classicline.
I'm 27 , no points or accidents they dont use no claims on a classic policy so you can Lump them on your main driver.

Re: Winter Storage Question

If I store it without stands, can I just get the wheels rebalanced when I put it back on the road or will it ruin the tires?

Re: Rev3 Turbo newbie questions

I wouldn't assume anything on these cars probably worth a bleed anyhow, I assumed my Cambelt was done on import, took it to be changed as a precaution, turned out it was the original belt 85k miles and 20 years old. Start with the easiest thing.

Re: Rev3 Turbo newbie questions

1. Get it replaced as a precaution if you have no history, doesnt cost that much.

2. id bleed the brakes first run plenty through. see if that helps. its not a light car really.

3. no idea :)
