Re: Shims
I ordered them twice (NA and SC) from mr T and both times the guy acted like they were the rarest thing on the planet, extremely hard to order and he had to consult some ancient guru in a long forgotten dealership for the numbers. Nevertheless you can find them here http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_E_...

Re: 4AGZE bouncing idle and stalls when warm
Ok I'll check the TPS. I took appart and cleaned every part of the intake system when swapping the engine but left the TPS on since it was obvious you have to adjust it. There was red paint on the screws of the TPS, not sure if these are stock alignment marks or someone has already been tampering wi...

Re: 4AGZE bouncing idle and stalls when warm
I think the timing is pretty close to the right setting, I timed it while it was idling at 800 rpm (without shorting the connectors) and it ran, reved and started fine. Even drove it in and out the garage a few times. I will check if the distrubutor is a tooth out but I'm pretty sure it isn't since ...

4AGZE bouncing idle and stalls when warm
I'm almost done with my NA to SC conversion but I can't figure out the timing. Every time I short the T and E1 connector the rpm drops so much the engine dies. I tried opening the idle adjustment screw but then the engine starts hunting. The BGB suggests that to get 800 rpm idle you should close the...

Re: SC Battery Upgrade
In my NA to SC swap I drilled a hole through the bottom of the battery stay and put a long piece of threaded rod in there to keep the intercooler up.

Driver's side lock not unlocking passenger door.
I got a mk1a and can lock and unlock both doors from the passenger side. Unlocking the driver side door doesn't unlock the passenger door but locking it does locks both doors. (the button inside the cabin works and (un)locks both doors) I'm guessing this isn't standard behavior? If so what would be ...

Re: MK1 rear track rod ends - why can't I find new ones?
If that's all OK I would suggest using a Dremel cutting disc to slit the old turnbuckle along it's length & then force the split open to release the balljoint This is what I did, just be carefull not to cut into the thread. I also managed to find a pic I made comparing the mk1a and BMW tie rod ...

Re: MK1 rear track rod ends - why can't I find new ones?
I remember reading somewhere that tie rod ends from an E28 BMW fit on a mk1b. I bought some years ago but haven't fitted them yet, so no clue if they actually work.
Unfortunately I forgot where I read this, it was another forum but no clue which one.

The correct belt to use without AC and a stock idler is 5PK845.

E51 slave cylinder
Does anyone know where I can get a slave cylinder for my SC E51 gearbox? It's leaking badly and I doubt I can rebuild it since there's so much rust inside. A slave cylinder from a NA fits but the position of the fitting for the hose is different. The fitting is very close to the shift cable and a cu...

Re: 4AGZE oxygen sensor connector
Thanks a lot!
It was either a single wire yellow, single wire white or double wire blue plug.
Guess the white and blue plugs are for the aircon.

4AGZE oxygen sensor connector
Does anyone know which plug the oxygen sensor on a JDM MR2 4AGZE connects to? I wired it up to the oil pressure sender by accident, want to get it right now. I got about 4 spare plugs dangling around the distributor, some for the air condition which I dont have and one for the oxygen sensor. But whi...

Re: 4AGZE alternator tensioner pulley
I got mine last week but it doesn't seem to fit. It's to wide (nearly twice the width of the standard pulley) and you can't get a socket between the pulley and the chassis rail.
Is the proper V6 idler this wide or did they supply a wrong part?

Do you perhaps have a spare alternator or waterpump/supercharger belt tensioner?

Re: Stray 4AGZE vacuum hose
Did some research last night and it seems this vacuum hose connects to the charcoil cannister. Some sort of filter for fuel fumes. It connects to a metal pipe near the fuel rail (that I forgot to fit), bends around the block to the ECU water temp sensors and continues from there to the charcoil cann...

Stray 4AGZE vacuum hose
Does anyone know what this vacuum hose is suposed to connect to? It starts just above the idle adjustment screw but there doesn't seem to be anything to connect it to. Can't get a steady idle and think this is the culprit. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-l0nETdF9uF4/UUX-HJCOC4I/AAAAAAAABPw/kBAezu...

Re: 4AGZE alternator tensioner pulley
Unfortunately it seems replacing the bearing isn't that easy according to http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=msg&th=30673&&pl_view=&start=0#msg_268569. The tensioner pulleys on the GZE are weird bearings. The bearing itself is a press fit just like all the rest. But the inner r...

4AGZE alternator tensioner pulley
Does anyone know if there's an alternative for the 4AGZE alternator tensioner? (It's the same as the waterpum/supercharger tensioner) The bearing in mine's gone. I've read about using a V6 camry idler as a tensioner for the waterpump and supercharger but I'm running standard pulleys so I don't know ...
