Re: So I learned my low fuel light doesn't work!
I never fixed it tbh, even though I had the clocks out twice since then. :/

It's pretty loose IIRC. I have a pair of mk1a axles in my garage but won't be home till sunday to check it.

Stripping paint from stock alloys
I got a pair of stock mk3 alloys for my mk1 but can't get rid of the paint on them. I've already tried three different paint strippers and used a wire wheel but after an afternoon of work there's still paint left on one of the wheels and I haven't touched the other three yet. As far as I know it is ...

Re: engine revs up when pressing brake pedal and tiny air bubbles in fluid
I recently bled my brakes (after upgrading them) and I had the same problem. (I did however use one of those vacuum operated bleeders). It took a while to find the leak but it turned out to be the bleed screws themselves not sealing properly. I took them out, wrapped them in a thick layer of teflon ...

Re: Driver's side lock not unlocking passenger door.
It's the light blue/white wire on pin 5 that's missing. All other wires are there.
It should work if I add the wire but haven't had the time yet to trace it back and see which parts are there and which ones aren't.

Re: Driver's side lock not unlocking passenger door.
I had some time to look farther into this today. The door lock control relay is different in a mk1a than a mk1b so the BG wasn't usefull. I found a wiring diagram for a mk1a and came to the conclusion that the wire to the drivers key lock switch was missing. All other eight wires were there, includi...

Re: Rally Car
yes it is. LHD and RHD MC pipe outlets are on opposite sides. i have encountered the same challenge after getting a RHD MC for my LHD car. you either have to try re-bending your current pipes, have new ones made or get a pair of custom braided flexible brake hoses with correct fittings (this is wha...

Re: Rally Car
A bit off topic but is there a difference between LHD and RHD brake servo's and master cylinders?
I need to upgrade mine and it's far easier to find parts in the UK.

Re: Big rear brakes turbo calipers 280mm discs
ARe you sure they fit under 15 inch (mk3) wheels? PW article about this upgrade mentions you need at least 16.
If they fit, can you can ship them to Belgium?
(I know it's gonna be expensive)

Re: Problems after ST165 brake upgrade
So yeah apparently I installed the brake lines wrong, if you do it correctly they fit properly.
There's still the 3mm offset problem but this is normal it seems. Lot's of threads on mr2oc about it. Either shave 3mm of the carrier bracket or get a 3mm shim behind the disc.

Get a genuine one from Toyota. I ordered one from camskill and the mounting points on it were wrong (could be fixed if you drilled them yourselves).
Genuine cap was 22.01 quid from them two years ago.

Re: Problems after ST165 brake upgrade
I don't have time to work on the car this weekend but I'll try to take some pictures. The discs I used were not new (but still good) so I'll measure them to see if they are genuine mk1b discs. My brake lines aren't toyota originals anymore but I do have them in the basement somewhere, I'll compare t...

Problems after ST165 brake upgrade
I just installed a set of ST165 front callipers on my MK1a but ran into two problems: The disc isn't centered at all, it's one or two mm from the inner brake pad, and 7 or 8 from the other. Do I need a need a spacer between the disc? (I upgraded to the mk1b disc) The brake lines are to short to conn...

Re: Supercharger battery
On my mk1a SC I drilled a hole through the bottom of the battery tray and inserted a long threaded rod with some nuts and washers to keep the intercooler up. I also turned the battery around so the negative pole sits under the intercooler instead of the positive one. This might not be an issue on a ...
