Fuel is 2 months old at maximum, filled it up end of june.
Temp gauge sits in the middle once it's warmed up.
It drives fine when warmed up so don't think the fuel pressure is bad.

Where to start after 4 years of neglect?
Around 5 years ago I swapped in a 4AGZE in my 86 na. I got a lot of help from someone awesome and together we got it working. Fuel usage was high at the start but a new O2 sensor fixed that. That was about the only problem we ran into. Soon after that my personal situation changed and I had other th...

Re: 4AGZE power loss above 6k rpm
Problem has been resolved by replacing the oxygen sensor. Car was running extremely rich and failed emission testing.
Now pulls happily to 7k.

4AGZE power loss above 6k rpm
Is it normal for a 4AGZE to suddenly lose all power around 6200 rpm?
Engine is from an early AFM MR2, is completely stock and runs fine. Plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor were replaced recently.

Thanks, I will try that next time I hear it. (hard to reproduce)
Not sure if that will fix it though, I completely rebuild the front brakes and regreased everything on the back, including the piston

Re: Grinding noise when turning right
As far as I know I don't have an LSD and the oil in the gearbox is less than a year old. I'm pretty sure it's coming from the rear and it can't be the backplates since I removed all of them (ST165 front and SW20 rear brakes). I only noticed the noise when it was hot outside (25 degrees) or doing tig...

Grinding noise when turning right
My car sometimes makes a metal grinding noise when I make a right turn. The sound comes from the rear but I couldn't find any play in the wheel bearings.

Re: REAR BALL JOINT QUESTION
There's a difference. If I recall correctly the mk1a ball joint uses thicker bolts. I ran mk1b joints on my mk1a accidently for two years (before switching to mk1b suspension) since they came with new bolts and I didn't noticed they were thinner.

SC stumbles when accelerating
Whenever I accelerate hard (WOT) in first or second gear the car stumbles and/or hesitates. It starts to shake, the revs starts to bounce and it won't accelerate at all, I then have to take my foot of the accelerator let the revs come down a bit and gently press it again to get going. As soon as it ...

I have mk1a alloy in very good condition (some red paint from the body on it and flaky paint below the TOYOTA text).
I can take pictures if you want.

Re: Poor supercharger fuel mileage
Replaced the thermostat with a genuine toyota one and this solved the problem.
Fuel mileage increased to 9l/100km (31 UK mpg) while driving it normally and I'm sure I can get even more when driving economically.

Re: Struggling to justify my MR2... so bought another!
It's a bit of a mixture of 1a and 1b. For an 85 it should have a flat front bumper and the bumpers should be black. The bumper has been resprayed by the previous owner (who drove it through a hedge) no clue if it was replaced. But you're right it's a bit of a mixture of a and b even though the docu...

Re: Struggling to justify my MR2... so bought another!
I bought mine 7 years ago and except for the faded red paint it was in pretty good shape. Two weeks later inexperienced 21yo me slid it into a guard rail messing up the paint even more. After two years keeping it outside it needed some new sills and it turned out the "repaired" wheel arche...

ST165 calipers and space saver wheels
Is there any space saver wheel that fits over the ST165 (dual piston) front calipers?
I'm in the processof relocating the battery to the front and would still like to cary a spare (space saver) wheel up front.

Re: Poor supercharger fuel mileage
Thanks for all the replies. The rear brakes were rebuilt and aren't dragging. Tires are inflated to factory requirements (1.8 and 2.0 bar). Both the thermostat and O2 sensor were replaced but I'll check them out. I already know the thermostat might be wrong, the old one was marked 87 degrees while t...

Re: Poor supercharger fuel mileage
I know the SC will use more fuel than an NA which isn't a problem, I just suspect something is wrong with mine since it uses quite a bit more than I expected and more than what I read elsewhere online. As Ben mentions he rarely gets more than 220 miles from a tank in his SC while driving normally. I...

Poor supercharger fuel mileage
What is the average fuel mileage for a supercharged mr2? I suspect mine is getting pretty poor results. Mine used around 10l/100km (28mpg) during the last two tanks. I drove it very gently at 100-110kmh (60-70 mph) on the highway (almost no city miles) without activating the supercharger. On my old ...

Re: Mk1b boot dimensions
Check http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_fqWQzpzlU from minute 7. I've fitted an entire shopping cart worth of groceries in mine and used it on numerous road and camping trips. It's tight but it held everything you'd need for two persons going away for 10 days. I do have a mk1a which doesn't have the ...
