Free poly bushes?
Hi, Can someone confirm that these are a) for the AW11, b) not crap and c) much cheaper than they should be? http://www.twosrus.co.uk/shop/index.php/sbits-free-high-and-tight-motorsports-prothane-front-strut-bush-kits.html Also, I think I need a suspension top mount, is this a Mr T only part or moto...

Re: Rough Running - apologies for length!
Thanks for the reply - The plugs, cap and rotor arm are all fairly new and I have kept the old ones too. Changing them back has made no difference. Haven't changed the fuel filter yet, is it an easy/cheap job? I really do think it's not electrical though as until it's warmed up (and by warmed up I m...

Rough Running - apologies for length!
Hello people, Took the '2 out of hibernation on Saturday and it's got a problem (got some new pics uploaded, comments invited) I'll try to give you as much info as I can, along with some ideas of my own but I'm sure someone here will be able to tell me exactly what's wrong! By the way, this problem ...

Re: how quick?
Back in 1998 my first Mk1 (NA) did 126.5 mph slightly downhill on the M62 towards Manchester. Verified by laser... Luckily this was in the days when the police were still allowed some independent thought so I was let off with a few words of wisdom. Well, it was 3am, dry, lit motorway, not another ca...

Re: failed MOT
Pretty sure that's not the case, otherwise every chav that stuck an LED on the front of his car would fail if it doesn't work - surely front fogs/driving lamps come under the 'optional lamps' section as they're not specifically mentioned in the manual (same page as above) and thus 'Any additional po...

Re: failed MOT
Looks a bit open to interpretation here http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_110.htm Plus on pretty much any VW/SEAT/Skoda/Audi from the last 10 years or so it's not possible to turn the rear fogs on without the fronts being on due to the design of the switch - actually a great design, impossible to leave ...

Re: Car would not start, help please Video Inc.
Hi, Sounds like classic damp/old component HT circuit problems. Wait until it's as dark as possible, then get someone to crank the engine while you look closely at the dizzy cap and HT leads - on mine you could see a faint blue glow where the HT was tracking along the outside of the lead from the 'c...

Re: Replacement engine from prestige_partz
Make sure you read the small print carefully - that one on ebay is exchange and you'll be charged 25% on top if you don't send your old one back, plus the warranty will be invalidated! Bit odd that they'd insist on an exchange when these engines are supposedly sourced from Japan and not reconditione...

Re: Where does this earth wire go?
As an aside, are your battery terminals the wrong way round? Only asking as I'm after a replacement battery and my current one's got the earth on the left (nearest the body).

Re: Wont start on moist mornings......
Quick test I'd do in these circumstances is take the car somewhere really dark, preferably in moist conditions, flip the engine lid and have a good look with the engine running - you can often see the HT arcing somewhere and possibly hear it too. On mine it was the main HT lead to the distributor wh...

Re: Hello! And a little advice please...
Cheers Guys, The previous owner has actually left me a spare set of leads so I'll start with those. You're right though, a full check of all the basics is a good idea before looking for anything more sinister. I do actually have a crypton tuner (very 80s!) that I picked up off ebay a few weeks back ...

Hello! And a little advice please...
Hi! Just a quick post to say hello and ask a question - just earlier today I became the proud owner of a nice* 1988 Mk1 (details and pics to follow...) after a break of over 7 years! Anyway, only real problem I've found so far is an intermittent tick over problem. Doesn't seem like the classic air-i...
