Yup, what's the fastest V6 mk1 to date???

Unless I'm wrong, a cam'd 1MZ posted a 12s at the pod sometime ago :)

I imagine the 2GR's given a fair pop would match or exceed that.

Re: rFactor MR2 Mk1

I think that's almost spot on for matching my mk1 V6, mind it's not the typical V6 setup :)

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] i want 300bhp ish :P

How ever did Toyota get away with selling the ST185 GT-Four. They never had a blow off valve fitted. The ct26 doesn't fall apart any quicker on those. Oh yeah and the Porsche 962, you know the one that won Le Mans? The ultimate test of reliability? No blow off valve. Also countless other turbo char...

Re: just got nailed on roundabout...

This is a vastly generalised statement, there will still be exceptions to the rule but not as common in designs from the 90's. GT86, Subaru BRZ  And on the other foot you have GTR, historically a tuners dream car. Based upon my limited knowledge of current model, isn't exactly tuner friendly.

Re: just got nailed on roundabout...

Also jap cars tend to be built to modify... I don't mean as in its irresistible to tweak them but that there is a whole load of extra capacity engineered in but unused :) I'd imagine the days of overengineered jap cars are long gone, no reason these days to sacrifice a whole load of profit designin...

Havn't had the tyres off my roadster wheels yet Barron :( My supplier wasn't able to get the tyres I wanted Will weigh a wheel ASAP Those Rays seem good but I prefer 15" really Probably forged rather than cast alloy (the kind that bends rather than shatters if you hit a kerb) :?: Getting a set...

Re: Tyres for Sprinting

A bit off topic, but I noticed a lot of mk3 setups kicking about. Anyone know the weight of a mk3 alloy? With or without tyres, 15 or 16, front or rear. Hoping for < 15kgs lol Would be appreciated if someone could just pop one on scales for me. Cheers All my mk3 wheels are on the car @ the mo Barro...

Re: Brake upgrade

Hi mate, the problem with that theory is that if you only gut the bias valve on a stock Mk1 with stock calipers it won't stop as quickly as an St165 caliper'd car with no gutted valve. So there has to be more going on than just bias. Toyota switched up to twin piston calipers on the Rev1 Mk2 but re...

Re: Brake upgrade

Same size disks, but larger pad area and higher clamping force as the two cylinders are greater area than the standard single one A better distribution of the braking force is the main benefit from increasing numbers of pistons :) i.e. squeezing the disc in 2 places works better than just 1. The di...

Re: Brake upgrade

100% agree with that, it's also reinforced by real world experience which confirms exactly that. Hey Paul, I agree that fitting the calipers can reduce the stopping distance, but what I disagree with is that its in any relation to the size or configuration of the stoppers. My theory is the shorter ...

Re: Brake upgrade

Not necessarily - in the standard setup the rears aren't providing as much braking as they could thanks to the bias valve. With ST165 front calipers and the bias valve gutted the bias is approximately the same as standard, but overall braking is *improved* whilst still having the safety of the fron...

Re: Brake upgrade

single stop There's your problem  If all you're ever going to do is stop once, then you don't need to upgrade your brakes. In the real world however, especially on track, upgraded brakes give the ability to stop quickly repeatedly without the brakes overheating etc. Indeed lol, I was just tryi...

Re: Brake upgrade

I get the feeling I'm going to regret this post  The only reason I can see switching to st165's, resulting in a car stopping in a shorter distance over a straight line, single stop is from a change in brake bias from front to rear. Good technical article here: http://www.stoptech.com/technical-...

I am sorely tempted by this...

I need to add another v6 mr2 to the fleet.

I'd have one of each generation, all with the correct engine in :eye:

Re: 3.0 v6 converted MK2 on ebay

Because when it goes bang again you can buy a whole engine for £50 like I did last weekend or a full car with engine and tax/MOT for £250 like I did earlier in year. And believe me 220hp can be surpassed with a 3vz without spending hardly any money. I've seen a 3vz go from 155whp to 205whp (same dyn...
