I thought that was the a/c idle up valve?

comp test
It's gonna have a compression test tomor, so if the engine is good it will be sold as a rolling shell with good rev3 engine after it has been stripped

now for sale
After inspecting the turbo - all is well.
So it seems to be the rings....
I have given up and decided to break the car so parts are available in the parts for sale section

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Fire/smoke/oil !!!!!
It wasn't full of oil, but there was plenty in the hotpipe/intercooler pipes and over the intercooler itself.
I don't even think the breather that had popped off is suspect here....

[Mk2] [Turbo] Fire/smoke/oil !!!!!
Mr2 turbo rev3 Hi, i was on boost in third gear earlier and all of a sudden smoke came pouring out of the engine cover. I pulled straight over to check and there were flames on top of the turbo heatshield.. Under closer inspection, an oil breather pipe had popped off the airbox and the opposite side...

Remove the ignitor and inspect for cracks... if it has, it's gonna be soaking inside.

Just ignore it, it doesnt effect the running of the engine.

coolant
I'm sure the bubbling is pretty normal... someone will correct me if i'm way off but i would say it's the coolant cap de-pressurising the system??

It might be a good idea to bleed the system again Dan. You couldn't trust the work of the original garage so why should you trust the work of the garage that replaced your waterpump/belt etc...

Yeah, this happened to me once...
Just put the key in the lock and turn it side to side, don't use too much force. We don't want that key snapping!!

I give my cone air filters a nice bath in fairy liquid usually!
Then make sure it's bone dry before putting back on car. Oh, dont forget to oil it up again if it's that type

bov
could it be that the standard bov is faulty? The bov on my other car is open at idle..... when i take the pipe off the mr2, and put my thumb over it, the car runs but it idles low/badly. So when i put the pipe back on the bov, it does the same which indicates to me that the bov is not opening proper...

some people call it idle up valve, idle control valve, but is actually labelled the idle speed control in the manual...
its located under the throttle body and held in by 4 screws.

Lee, would the idle up valve happen to be in the area circled below?
If not, can you point it out to me?
Thanks
