Re: When is the supercharger suposed to be on?
Dunno if this helps but I reverse engineered the ECU program code for the JDM (AFM) SC control a few years ago. Sadly I've forgotten a lot of it but I did post up some info on Mark and Lauren's SC forum a few years ago with a flow chart showing how the supercharger control code flows in the ECU. May...

Re: MOT emissions failure
Hi Paul Yes I recall that on the later mk1B ECU the mixture screw gradually loses its influence with increasing rpm and it has no effect over 3500rpm. I vaguely remember that the screw on the early mk1b has a constant effect on the mixture up to 3500rpm. A few years ago I posted up an HTML page abou...

Re: MOT emissions failure
The air filter shouldn't really affect the mixture because the ECU uses a speed density EFI system.
I think the mixture screw will give the most control over fuel ratio.

Have you tried adjusting the idle/light running mixture screw?

Re: Back on the road again
Thanks for all the replies :) Fantastic mate bet you`re chuffed. Must have been a bad injury to stop you driving the 2 for so long! Yes it was pretty bad... My elbow was smashed through the joint so the bone bits had to be drilled and tied together with wires fed through the drill holes. Not good. T...

Back on the road again
Big day today... :) I drove my mk1 for the first time in 2 years since I smashed my elbow in a bike accident. I took it for an MOT today and it passed (again). I'm really pleased because I can cope OK with the heavy unassisted steering although I've only driven it a few miles so far. I've been drivi...

Re: T-vis info
On my car I modded the factory code in the ECU to let me change the TVIS operating point so I could set the ON and OFF rpm thresholds where I wanted. This is the most accurate way to do it because the ECU also switches in some ignition advance with the TVIS activation. So it's best to keep all this ...

I predict that the next questions will be:
"How do I fish a magnet out of the plenum?"
followed by "Will it do any damage if I leave it in there?"
(I know an old lady who swallowed a fly...)

Re: Throttle position sensor.
You could try a quick method of checking the IDL switch health with the procedure below: Check for error codes in the normal way and I assume there will be no code 11 stored. If there is then clear all codes and try again. Then repeat the error code procedure but do it with the throttle pressed down...

Re: Throttle position sensor.
It does seem odd that you've replaced one TPS already and the car is still faulty (yet it kind of works without the TPS unit!) From memory the IDL wire from the TPS to the ECU sets a logic level back at the ECU connector on the IDL pin. I really can't remember for sure but the IDL switch probably pu...

Re: Throttle position sensor.
Hi everyone, had a bit of a problem with my mr2. Over the past few days the cars been acting very strange, during gear change when you go back on the gas she's been sort of pausing causing gear changes to be very jerky. Then yesterday this problem progressed to the car not being able to exellerate ...

Re: What a sad sight
If you consider that thousands of mk1s will have been scrapped by now it seems silly to get stressed out over a few rusting wrecks stashed in a field somewhere. That must be all of a few weeks' worth of scrappers from the last 15 years! At least he's breaking them for spares rather than just crushin...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] What can you do with the stock ECU?
you have 20 years service history including everything in japan? :-k sorry, but i dont see how a stock turbo can run those levels to redline. how can a boot mount, ebc and ecu possibly "help" it run high boost to redline. that is really no different to any other bolt on setup. i would lik...

Re: Ticking noise while accelerating
I had this for a while on my old blue mk1b and it was the downpipe exhaust connection. It was a very annoying noise when it did it and it also went away at higher rpm. The first time it happened the garage told me what it was and 'fixed' it with a new gasket. But it still did it a bit and they had t...

Yes, I had several variants of the SC ECU here and they all had knock sensor MCU chips inside. These were JDM and USDM AFM based ECUs.

Re: Just had an oversized pulley fitted to my SC...
The SC ECU was one of the ECUs I reverse engineered many years ago. I looked at both the USDM ECU and several of the JDM variants and they all have a curious map in them that prevents the ECU from calculating the air mass above a limit set in a 'limit' vs rpm map in the ROM code. This map switches i...
