ok so im not going to have my 4agte running for a trackday next month, well imnot going to the risk of rushing it anyhow so i ve decided to replace the blown headgasket on my current 4age engine (which im assuming is where the water is going!) as this is only to get me by for one trackday im just af...

Re: ITB - stock engine & no EMS / piggy back ... can it be done?

tps and map should be related, the more tps the less vac and so on. it would probably run fairly well if you can get a good map signal using some sort of link rail between the itbs should do that. but the airflow for given throttle postions will be different to the orginal ecu map so it will run ric...

Re: Timing Question

stick it in gear with the handbrake on the engine wont move then.
a puller is well worth it then just put 2 m8 bolts into the pulley and wind away. there should be a few spare pulleys about i may even have one, ill have a look if you cant find one locally.

could you not use the gearbox out of an s/c or early mk2 turbo as id imagine they have larger diff bearings and therefore larger and stronger inner cvs?

Re: ae101 engine into an mr2

i was having a sort out and came across some parts from a 3sge engine i fitted to a celica a while back and there was a throttlebody. now although theres no stepper motor fitted (i had to take it off as the other one was damaged iirc) it looks like a mk2 mr2 one to me? it doesnt fit the 4age manifol...

Re: how quick?

hit 120mph at donny so probably a realistic 110-115mph it was pretty flat once in 4th gear tbh they really strugle from a lack of power at xxx speeds.
i must add that was with a few mods though.

Re: ANOTHER UPDATE. Car starts with out pump connected

mr2's are only shim adjustment on the valve clearance right? if not and they are hydraulic then its very common if an engine has been standing or the head updide down for the buckets to take ages to pump up so you dont get any air in the engine and it wont start until then. at the end of the day if ...

Correct NGK plug for the N/A is BCPR6EY11

Re: Mk1 SC spark plugs

off the tiop of my head should be one grade cooler than the n/a. i use bcpr6es in my n/a iirc, so bcpr7es would make sense. infact that the plug i use im my saab turbo so ideal for boosted conditions. if you go really mad ie over 1.3bar boost then you may want to start looking at bcpr8es plugs but t...

Re: ae101 engine into an mr2

yes indeed it does but its not normaly required as the fuel pressure is normaly in proportion to the pressure inside the manifold, therefor its just directly linked the manifold with a rubber pipe etc. but they have fitted a vsv in the line so the ecu can limit when the fuel pressure rises. i can on...

Re: ae101 engine into an mr2

well iirc i now have 2 or 3 different sources sent me for the pin outs on an ae101 ecu and an ae92 ecu so ill print them off and cross examine them to make sure. at the minute im no where near the wiring stage the engine needs stripping and checking yet but i want to make sure it will work and run b...

thats for all the info guys. i shall see what i can make out of what ive got. just need the ae101 wiring diagram to make things a little easier but there should be one of those around somewhere! im still confused by toyotas ecu controls though alot of it seems very basic and un required, they seem t...

Re: Car popping on tick over and cutting out when hot

i take it you have an uprated engine and ecu? if so then the ignition timing may need stting differently. timing it to stnadard spec maybe wrong. how ever nearly all mr2's seem to miss slightly when free reving so i wouldn't worry about that too much. if its been worked on alot internaly then they m...

Re: ae101 engine into an mr2

well im trying to see if its possible to use what i have. in theory it should be. and im trying to keep myself to a limit if i go megasquirt etc then ill be wanting 300-400bhp and the costs for that get silly. as things stand on the standard ecu i should be running about 200bhp which will be enough....
