Re: S/S Braided Brake Lines

never been keen on goodridge as their bike ones cant be iffy, but hel have always been excellent quality although never tried the car ones! on my mk1 i just have some custom ones of an unknow make off ebay and they work a treat, one of the best things you can do on a mk1 is overhaul the brakes imho!...

Re: Advice Please On Aftermarket Wheels/Tyres

nearly all the tyres for the orginal 14" wheels are just run around sizes and pants with too much sidewall felx. going to a 15" wheel will give loads more options and imho makes the car look much less dated than the wheel trim wanabee stanadard wheels.

Re: wet track day

my track car was like this at donny last year, shocking would 4 wheel drift then snap into oversteer at silly slow speeds. theres too much weight out back and you cant load the front end up when theres less grip and mid corner when the load shifts and then your sideways! doesn't help that mine is se...

Re: Perspex windows

i think the problem is the rear windows and rear quarter windows arnt to bad to do but the doors have no frame so fitting plexi glass is a bit harder.

Re: Rear caliper/handbrake adjustment footnote...

but the piston will move without rotating when the handbrake is applied as the threaded shaft is leveared in an out. im sure both the nut inside th piston and thread inside the caliper is fixed as they both have flats on them where they locate to stop them rotating. ill have to whip one apart and ha...

im sure on the last pair of calipers i refurbed the mechanism is fixed inside the caliper so the only thing that can turn is the piston.

Re: Rear caliper/handbrake adjustment footnote...

the one silly thing is that the piston is only self adjusting if you grind the pin off the rear brake pads. with it in place the piston cant spin freely!

Re: Rear caliper/handbrake adjustment footnote...

one people often miss regardless of the make of car. with any rear brake adjustment you should always make sure the handbrake cables are totaly free and slack before adjusting anything at the brake end.
nice when you find things out for nothing too.

Re: Custom or aftermarket exhaust system for AW11 - Pics needed

nope its an obx one for a fwd corrola ae92 ie same engine as the mr2.

pipe diameter is dependant on the power out put your after. 2" is ideal for standard power and slightly above. if you start going cams, itb's etc then your looking at more like a 2,1/4" exhaust.

Re: Custom or aftermarket exhaust system for AW11 - Pics needed

if you run a straight through short exhaust you loose power and torque as the back pressure is to low and the system to short. heres the exhaust i made using a magnex backbox gave a nice gain in the midrange and top end. http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii150/crazybrightman/SP_A0924.jpg http://i26...

they come in different boxes though and one type is black and the other silver. iirc the silver ones are very stiff!
id love to compare the same type side by side ie silver fronts and black fronts.

Re: New suspension and brakes...

Re: V8 Mk1 6 speed with power steering

hmm now as much as i love modifying a tweaking cars that seems well not to fit! is there going to enough room left to get some seats in? i supose you'll end up with about a 50/50 weight distribution if nothing else! are you going to have to space frame the rear end slightly to get some strength back...

surely thats not on the standard supercharger i thought they couldn't flow any more air than 190bhp?
