Re: Meguires Vs Autoglym

Slightly alkaline water can reduce water spots when washing a car, so maybe that's the reason?

Re: Fitting a new turbo

You should be able to re-use the downpipe gasket as long as it's not damaged.

Re: Meguires Vs Autoglym

Washing up liquid contains sodium chloride, or salt. Enough said. [-X

Re: Meguires Vs Autoglym

I don't really rate Autoglym. They do have some products, which are quite good. I use Meguiars or Sonus polishes. Sonus seems to have a longer working life and you needn't use as much water when machine polishing. As far as wax goes, I use Collinite 476S. You don't need much, goes on easy, buffs off...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] How to repair a split spoiler and a buckled boot lid

Difficult to see properly, but you should be able to bend that back into shape with a makeshift jig. As for the paint chips, they look easy enough to touch up and blend in. Fill the chip layer by layer until you're above the original paint depth, then rub back with 2500-3000 grit wet/dry, then cut w...

Your battery shouldn't be totally dead. Charge it on a fast/boost charge and it should be fine.

Re: HughesR1's Red N/A restoration

Looks great! Can you apply a black or something first so the inside lets less light through?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Issue with changing downpipe!

Nice one! Glad it saved you the trouble, as I still had a stud to drill out.

I'm not sure about the actuator, my turbo is the same and I don't plan on messing with it yet.

You'll lose a small amount of coolant, but it can be bled easily enough.

Re: HughesR1's Red N/A restoration

Nice job on the paintwork :thumleft:

The wheels look nice in anthracite or black.

Do the T-bar panels still let light through? Interesting mod

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Issue with changing downpipe!

If you've not enough thread to use two nuts, you could try this

Impact Stud Extractor
Also available at Halfords

Did the job with my manifold studs, but heat the studs or you'll just twist them off at the flange.

Avoid the cheap stud removers on eBay, they just break.

Re: Respray

Plastidip isn't a long-term fix to your paintwork problems. Looks handy for a quick colour change but if you've got rust that needs treated, you've got rust that needs treated.

Re: Xbox One

They'd better release Forza 5 on the Xbox 360, If not I'll be off to buy a PS3 / 4. I certainly won't be buying an Xbox One until they lower the price as I'm not paying a fortune for something that most likely will have teething problems (RROD anyone) No point being an early adopter anyway. There w...

Replace with a resistor? I'm not sure what the value would be though.
