Re: Project MRX350

There really is a lot of overhyped nonsense on the internet about what does and doesn't work with Mr2s and engine swaps, there's perhaps a handful of us worldwide that go out and do it and prove what really works, the rest is just the same old regurgitated posts from years ago, it's like Chinese wh...

Gavinda,

How does yours drive with the 12" rears on the road?

What size do you run up front?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Stock Rev2 3SGTE: 487.3bhp & 364.6lbft, 2.2 bar & 8100RPM

The knock control is great, it is working most of the time with stock boost. It can only do so much when the boost it turned up. Any engine running more than stock boost needs a lower compression or higher octane fuel. Base timing can be set to say 6 to 8 deg to help but is the wrong way to do it. ...

Really? The stock knock control isn't the best ever, hence the endless threads on here for cracked ringlands.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Low oil pressure at idle

Personally I'd be getting a little concerned with only 8psi at idle when warm, especially on a refreshed engine.

The stock low pressure switch, switches at 7psi iirc.

Have you noticed the pressure getting lower over time?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] lightweight flywheels yes or no

I agree that losing the harmonic balancer in the crank pulley could be a bad thing, but I'm not sold on a light weight flywheel being an issue- as long as it is properly balanced of course. X2. I can see losing the harmonic dampener being a problem at certain revs. Where is most of the weight lost ...

Great read that- very enjoyable, I caught a program a few weeks back about the Bonneville race (can't remember what it was called), looks like an epic event, but much harder than people realise! In Search of Speed, The Battle of Bonneville Was that the one where mate was trying to file his twinscre...
