Re: Wheel spacers
Surely there isn't an lot of difference between a wheel with the 'correct' offset and one with too much inset that's been fitted with a spacer? My rears fit into this category as I couldn't get 8x16s to go with the 7x16s that were right for the front = 'sitting in' a bit at the back. Now with the wi...

Re: Nutters (long post)
Well...it's tricky. Speaking personally it takes a lot to wind me up enough to have a pop at someone, but once I'm committed I'm quite unlikely to stop...just not worth it in my opinion. On the other side of the coin, some guy got pistol-whipped a mile or so from where both of my incidents happened ...

Re: Oil Cooler
It's just under the engine, to the front of the block if I recall rightly. Might have a look later and report back. Of course it may well be concealed by the undertray.

Nutters (long post)
Hi all, Only just discovered this part of the site and thought I would share a couple of unfortunate (and bizarre) experiences I had a year or so ago... 1) I was coming home from a mate's house early one evening and as I pulled out of his road a Y reg Micra shot past. I pulled out behind him and as ...

Re: left foot braking round corners?
Just lift off slowly rather than backing right off all of a sudden...surely this will have the same effect? Must admit I'm a nightmare for left-foot braking when I'm karting, but don't do it on the road!

Coilovers
Hi all, Found these on a trawl through the web today: http://www.drivewire.com/performanceparts/bg/toyotamr2s3coilovers.html At current exchange rates this seems to be about £550 inc shipping. Now, as I've never imported anything direct from the States before, how much could I expect to pay on impor...

Re: Turbo, dump valve, clutch + light weight fly wheel, waste et
Steve, note your comments but loads done to my car since you went in it :) . After I had the boost increased the dump valve etc was a LOT louder, this increased even more after I had the new exhaust fitted. Unfortunately haven't been in any other (healthy) turbos to compare. Will PM you soon, been b...

Re: Hesitation when turbo kicks in
Almost certainly ignition components. Check all culprits & replace as necessary. Not THAT cheap but less than any of the other things you were thinking.

Re: Turbo, dump valve, clutch + light weight fly wheel, waste et
Hi all, mods on my car ('94 GT-S turbo) for reference are: Unichip (set to 1.2 bar), Quikshift Taipan induction (stainless mesh filter in carbon housing), Fidanza alloy flywheel, Helix Stage 2 paddle clutch, custom single exit exhaust 3" bore from turbo inc decat, Blitz BOV (model unknown), Sam...

Re: toyo proxes T1-R's
Just changed my Proxes T1-S's after 16k miles (front) & 8k miles (rear) ('94 turbo, 300 bhp). Went for the T1-R's this time round, seem good so far but still scrubbing them in so will report back when they've settled down a bit. On a general note, I have just reminded myself again what a false e...

Re: Shall I run higher than 16psi with std intercooler?
Ryan, looking at the conversion figures above those boost levels sound about right. Personally I'd be a little wary of running that boost level without some mapping or WI (on stock IC), but I'm sure it has been done. If I was you I'd keep it to maybe 16psi until you can sort cooling or mapping, just...

Re: Tuning advice for a newbie!
Good luck with the tuning but don't expect 400bhp to come cheap (or easy)! Check this for a few ideas/warnings: http://www.madcat.co.uk . Don't know about keeping up with Scoobys/Evo's - they never seem to want to play :? ...bear in mind an MR2 with even 300bhp can run a high-12 sec 1/4 mile so in a...

Re: Tuning advice for a newbie!
Just my 2p...these cars (esp. Rev3) seem very cheap and easy to get to 300 bhp. I managed it with a Unichip/exhaust/induction. After that you're into the law of diminishing returns as each extra 10bhp or whatever costs sooo much more. I've never tried driving one with more power than mine but would ...

Re: Shall I run higher than 16psi with std intercooler?
I've been running 1.2 bar on my Rev3 for a couple of years now on the stock IC. Since I had my new exhaust & decat fitted a year ago the car'll pull over 1.3 bar on the road (not on the dyno though) - never had any probs. I have to say though, I definitely feel the stock IC is limiting the car a...

Re: lightened flywheel ?
I had a Fidanza fitted when I had my clutch changed. Unfortunately the clutch turned up too late to have it all fitted before my Unichip & dyno session so I had to have that done with the old clutch. Subjectively the car 'felt' a bit less torquey after the flywheel was changed; later on I had a ...
