Re: Snap off boss?

are they safe? Wouldnt want to buy a cheap one and while cornering hard it pops off   I had one just like this:- http://www.minispares-online.co.uk/?cat_id=2&sub_cat_id=29&prod_id=2289 Can't really see any way it could pop off unintentionally if made to the same design as this...

Re: HELP PLEASE!!! ignition problems??? head gasket??? piston rings????

Hi Dan, First off, oil and water mixing is not good, usually indicates a headgasket failure or similar. However there are other causes of this and HG failure is not very common on the Rev3 I believe. The chip missing from the ceramic part of your spark plug is also not too encouraging, unless someon...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Big Disc Conversion.

Is there a technical reason for a lip to be left? If there is, then maybe the project should be binned because unfortunately it's not possible to do when using stock calipers on these bigger discs. I can't see why this would be an issue - otherwise those "wavy-edge" discs would be a no-no...

Re: M3

Ok, MR2 tinted glasses off: M3s (all shapes) are superior cars to mk2 MR2s. It's a shame that E36s are now chavvy and E46s have a bit of a bell-end image, but these are serious "driver's" cars in every respect. Well they've got back seats. Seriously though I had a drive of my mate's E36 M...

Drop Peter Gidden @ sBits a line - he's just fitted 86mm CP's into a sleeved block on Paul White's car (my old one).

Re: MR2 Turbo VS Honda Integra Type R???

What about the Rover(ex Buick,of course) in TVR's... pre cat 4.3 or HC 5k litre--340hp...standard they sound good, with the right exhaust system they sound fantastic. 8). Hence why I said European. :+: And Matt, Merkin=American.... just a phonetic interpretation. Buick, of course, being a well-known...

Re: MR2 Turbo VS Honda Integra Type R???

Still impressive or not, who's going to buy the corvette? A shed load of Americans  And a few Europeans who are are not bothered by the stigma attached to it's suspension setup. Well merkins are always going to favour their homegrown archaic cars I guess. A few Euros might be daft enough too ...

Re: MR2 Turbo VS Honda Integra Type R???

s a lot of supposed lack of grip in the wet The MR2 has really high limits in the wet, best wet weather A to B car I've ever driven. Difficult to catch over the limits yes, but to get to those limits you've got to really push it or do something stupid. Something I've been saying for many yea...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Why is the MR2 so heavy

Geoff, my idea of lightly modified would be induction, exhaust and maybe de-cat but that's it. You've done quite a lot really. Not going to get into an argument but the only difference there is the Unichip and flywheel (which was done only because it needed a new clutch and thought I might as well)...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Why is the MR2 so heavy

In fact I'd say no less than 210 lb/ft between 3,500 and 7,200 rpm compares extremely well with a lot of things out there. Yes it was modded but relatively lightly. Relatively... its got 25% more power than standard lol. Which means its probably a ct20b at max psi, hybrid or aftermarket turbo. All ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Why is the MR2 so heavy

I think this thread has gone a bit wayward. Are people trying to say that MR2 turbo's lack torque? I think it has quite a strong pull aside from the turbo lag. Yes thread has gone wayward, sorry for my part. But to answer your question. No I don't think the tubby has low torque, just that everyone ...

Re: [All] [Generic] A Policeman Is Your Friend - NOT!!!

I'm amazed the number of people I see round my way with the old-style silver on black numberplates on new (always black) vehicles. Even more strange that quite a few pair these with a legal black on yellow plate at the rear. :-k I would've thought the old bill would be down on them like a ton of bri...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] trd carbon kit

Don't the TRD kits need loads of blending? In which case you probably wouldn't leave the weave showing (not that I think this looks good anyhow - except possibly on a black car). Can't really see the point as I didn't think carbon was much lighter than plain FRP, just stronger for the same weight. D...

Re: Caught out by a sleeper

I remember many years ago picking up this HS Chevette for a friend of mine. Anyways down the A13 I lined up at the lights behind a Cossie. Now I should say this was circa 1990 when Cossie's were a seriously quick car. There I was in this HS Chevette (for the noobys HS stands for homologation specia...
