Re: 215/35/18 need tyres asap

So did you use the washer trick to find out what spacers you req, also hubcentric 15mm spacers already include the studs i believe.

*edit*

Done some digging and seems that up to 20mm and you just get a spacer and need studs, after 20mm they are already in the spacer.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] will these wheels fit??? 18" 40 profile tyers!!! need answers!!

oh yes,my example for the rear wheel was a 17" rim fitted with 255/40.

Ain't sure what a 245/40 18 will be like for clearance.try and fit and see.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] will these wheels fit??? 18" 40 profile tyers!!! need answers!!

Well the fronts will be flush to the archs compared to the back. So if you want your car to look sweet, then yes you would also need some for the rears, but unlike the front which are defo required just to make them fit on the hub the rears will fit(i think)without spacers. Also the spacers would be a...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] will these wheels fit??? 18" 40 profile tyers!!! need answers!!

Just follow the advice I gave you bud :thumleft: The wheels will fit.You just need spacers at the front to stop the wheel/tyre from hitting the strut(not spring seat) and 215's so they wont foul/touch the bottom of the spring seat. use the washer trick,it will only cost a couple of qiud for the was...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] will these wheels fit??? 18" 40 profile tyers!!! need answers!!

just thought would add a few more things. 215's on an 8j will be a tiny amount stretched, but not that much .As most would probably fit 225's or235's to an 8j but as a said i do not now if they will clear the strut or create problem with catching the wing etc. And if you use the washer trick but are ...

Also if you jack the car up with the suspension loaded you could kepp adding the washers untill the wheels/tyres came to the edge of the wings, but please remember you do not want them to catch the arch lip.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] will these wheels fit??? 18" 40 profile tyers!!! need answers!!

well with an 8j rim you wanna go with 215/35's.Also you will need spacers as your offset will hit the strut.my 8j with 35 offset clears by about 5mm+.so you will probably need 15 mm spacers at a guess. just go and buy a load of2-3mm washers and keep putting them on 3 of the studs and trying the whee...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] will these wheels fit??? 18" 40 profile tyers!!! need answers!!

Mate ,you will not even get them on the front as they will not fit under the std strut. You need 35 profile with 215 but that also depends on width of whell also.
do you now the wheel width offsets etc ,then people could offer you more advice.

Re: whats the wings made out of?

Wing would not need filling to fit a original border bumper :thumleft: so was probably just damage it as picked up in past. And only bodyshops would fill the wings to match bumpers as it is the easy/cheaper/less time consuming option.Depends on what your willing to pay. I always mod/cut/etc the part...
