Re: Whiteline rear anti-roll bar
Is there such a thing as a whiteline MK1a roll bar? If not it looks like i'll need to add a mounting hole further back, problem is its got a captive nut inside. Also I've seen pics of the MR2 mk2 rear anti roll bar that looks like it might fit, has anyone tried that? It's thicker than the Mk1a bar w...

How is the MK1b different? Are the U bracket bolts further back?

Whiteline rear anti-roll bar
All, I bought a whiteline rear anti roll bar from Fensport back in may, only got around to fitting it a month or so back and it didn't seem to fit or be correct for the car - it's a different shape from the standard one. It seems like the "kicked out" parts of the whiteline bar are fouling...

TRD heavy duty suspension top mounts
Hi everyone, does anyone know anywhere other than Fensport where you can pick up TRD heavy duty top mounts for a Mk1a? Bought a vehicle set from Fensport a few months back but the rear pair were on back order, had a credit note through the other day apparently they've been discontinued :( would just...

Re: Carbon airboxes - who wants one?
Guys, Thanks for your comments. The reason I want to do a carbon airbox is - in the future I am looking to develop a range of aftermarket airboxes for multiple cars, which will be based around several standard conic filter sizes and use standard parts with adapters for different mountings/air pickup...

Re: Carbon airboxes - who wants one?
Price is a problem then, what sort of price would make it attractive? Bear in mind most induction kits at around £100 are just a filter, adapter plate and a hose, my product would be those items plus a cold feed airbox. As for the cold air feed the plan would be to draw air from a cold location, obv...

Carbon airboxes - who wants one?
Hi all, I've been mulling over a more free-flowing airbox design for the MK1 for some time, and my current job involves working with a supplier of carbon fibre components. I am going to see what it will take to get some parts made and maybe sell a few if they give a flow improvement....basically I n...

Anyone know the Toyota part number for the core plug in the block that sits below the distributor? The toyota drawing numbers all of them - except that one! :-s http://opc.mr2oc.com/online_parts_catalog/Engine/cylinder%20block.GIF It's the one in the middle of the four bolt pattern, under the dizzy,...

Re: Mk1a / MK1b engine differences
gearbox will be fine with either engine. i`d go for the mk1a loom inlet and injectors. no snipping wires ,everything fits in place. the injectors flow plenty of fuel to cope with any fuel demands the engine needs so no worries there. if you are going to all this trouble in my book its worth a new c...

That was my plan, just to replace the basic engine but refit all the ancilliary parts from the duff mk1a motor.
Has anyone done this?
Cheers for the replies guys!

Re: Idle Pully Bolt
I'd try mole grips, adjust them so you they're really tight to close or failing that, cut the point off and weld a bolt on to the end, use the bolt to loosen. The heat of welding will probably unseize the bolt.

Mk1a / MK1b engine differences
Well it's a day of contrasts. Firstly my 3 year restoration oddessy is over and (bar a few little stripes and rubbing strips to reglue) the car is complete! And it flew through its MOT as well! Check my garage for updated pics. However the noise in the engine that I thought was a cambelt too tight n...

if its in a book, it must be true!! Well I'm pretty sure I didn't pick it up from the fiction section.... :) everything youve said is correct, in the real world its not. Eh? am I right, or wrong? results didnt come out perfect. They never do, but, as in all automotive development, the formulas give...

Re: 4GAE tuning for fast road use
.....then when the valve opens youve got a vacuum in the engine, and a positive pressure zone in the plenum, and youve effectively got forced induction ;) Are you talking about resonance tuning? There are fairly simple equations that allow you to work out runner lengths so you can line up the reson...

Front wing mastic/sealer
As my restoration nears completion (only 2 years late! ) I am re-attaching the front wings, there seems to be some sort of rubber gasket or is it dried up sealer where the wing attaches to the body, what is this and does anyone know where I can get some? No hurry I've got the lovely task of r...

Where to buy front wings
Well, as the topic states really, is it possible to get them for less than the 100+ quid that fensport want for them? Has anyone got a spare set they want to sell me preferrably in red (yeah right!)
Thanks,
Jim

Re: Newbie! wanting to buy a resto project
watch the alternator as well, bearings going are a common problem, if it's been stood for 5 years it's probably siezed - this also means the water pump will not be driven so don't let it get hot if this is the case otherwise bye bye head gasket!
