Re: With a track day looming, the head gasket goes, Help!!!

Ok. Mr Two is being a little strange, there is no more mayonaisse, not a bit, and no coolant loss. So i'm leaving it for now. I gave a really good ragging when it was all nice and warm. I'm thinking that the large quantity of mayo was from it being sat a lot and doing short journeys. Did a compressi...

NO thats not it the 4AGE, Thats just firing a spark at the wrong time. Is there still something wet in or around the dizzy. Thats exactly what happens when it gets wet. Maybe the leads are wrong. Keep fiddling.

Re: I got problems

Thats a nice little test that. I had a little read of the manual aswell. So m i right in thinking that when idling, even when hot some of the air is meant to go via the AAV. It only huned a little this morning and when i put my finger over the hole it stopped. Whats really really annoying is that i ...

Re: I got problems

AAAHHHH!!!!!! it got worse, its now hunting evrey time for a while too, just before it reaches normal temp. I'm thinking it might not be waxstat too, cos it seems really well timed, not random, (if that makes sense). And beeing lazy the last thing i want to do is drain the coolant. So any other idea...

Re: I got problems

thanks a lot for the really really quick responces. The hand brake cable is just fine, so a rebuild kit it is. How much is one of those manual choke kits?? When fitting new discs, your meant to check them witha dial in guage, to see if they're flat, what do you do if they're not???? Thanks folks

The front discs are warped like pringles, One of the new rears is getting hot (depsite cleaning and greasinghte sliders) and now the engine is hunting, only once so far but i want to nip it in the bud. I'll fix the front brakes, but... Any ideas about the engine??...

Re: Brakes!!!

I had to screw them in so that they were flush with the caliper to get them over the new pads. Is that enough? Is it bad if i didn't???

Re: I'm a new owner.

Here are a few pics of my motor. I thought as you all know exactly how these aswome little cars look, I'd show you all the rusty bit, and tell you how much i paid, then you can tell me if it was a bargain or not. Its only had a few owners now and its got a full Toyota servise history, every 3000 ish...

Re: I'm a new owner.

Ummmm..... all worth considering. I think its just the idle screw i'm looking for though as it reves p to 2500 when cold as it should, but when its hot even after a good thrashing it idles at 1100. I've cleaned the air filter and re oiled it and the manual says 800 rpm. So with all the above in mind...

Re: I'm a new owner.

Thanks for the replies. Its a white 1989 T-Bar. The body is in great shape and its done 85000 miles with full toyota service history. It leaks so slowly i didn't think to look for drips. When my scimitar leaked a bit i eventually saw a slight jet of steam from a hose, that took ages to find. I'll tr...

I'm a new owner.

I've now owned my MR2 mk1 for a day and its quite amazing as you all know. But there are a problems that need ironing out. So hopefully you could shed some light on what to do. First off the alternator seems to be wrong for the car. The adjustment slot for tightening the belt doesn't seem to line up...
