Re: [All] [Generic] Noise measurement at the Nurburgring
I have been noise tested at my current condition. The method I was tested with and the way I saw it done at the ring when people have been tested was a static test. The guy stands behind the car by ~1 metre and has you rev to ~4k. Using this method my car measured a 89dB. Under full load and red lin...

Re: [All] [Generic] Noise measurement at the Nurburgring
Ive got an XS power decat/ downpipe and a mongoose exhaust. I have ~ 40 laps on the 'ring in my tubby (rev 2) and have had no problems. Some bikers I went with one year had some problems, but had brought extra exhausts. We think the measurement point is on the bridge just after you entre the circut ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] what tool is needed to do up ARP's? and guideline to installing?
The last set of ARP head bolts were an external 12 point.
Many sockets are 12 point so that was not a problem.
Some are slpine drive I think though.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] head bolt removal tool
Each tool manufacturer has their own labeling for tool types, what says 12mm internal spline drive to Snap-On does not say the same thing for a MAC dealer or a Teng tool resaler.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Omori Gauge Install
I have done this mod and I don't think I had to cut any traces.
However if I did or in your case you have, I would recommend following the trace to find the joints they go to and then running an extra wire from one terminal to the other.
This should get everything running.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

Hope that helps!

Re: [All] [Generic] head unit does not have a remote power lead, how do i power the amp up?
Right here we go, The blue wire from the deck provides 12 volts. BUT it only provides ~ 2-300 milliamperes or enough to close a relay or signal a semiconductor. So when you turn on your deck 12 volts is 'seen' by the amp on its 'rem' (short for remote turn on) and it sends power to the ic chip that ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] gaugeplace gauges?? any good? good sandwich plate?
I have a 3 gauge holder in a din slot. Got it from eBay for 45mm gauges. Fit is exelent (the holes lined right up with the Toyota ears), looks great, and was dead cheap. The holes are just a smidge undersized but that allowed me to install the gauges with no "holdery" bits just presed them...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] gaugeplace gauges?? any good? good sandwich plate?
I bought 45mm Omori gauges and my oil pressure came with a little braided tube extender thing. I have mounted the sender on the X brace and used zip ties to hold the extender to the brace till it goes to the T piece for the pressure at the head. Works a treat! Oh, I do have speed source poly enine m...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] gaugeplace gauges?? any good? good sandwich plate?
I would caution anyone from getting a sandwich plate for oil temp and pressure take off. Myself and many others have had pretty serious leaks due to poor sealing. On a rev 2 there is the gasket at the bloc, the gasket on top of the oil cooler, the gasket on top of the oil plate then the oil filter. ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] De-Cat/Downpipe
It will make a difference, how much so depends on your exhaust.
some get LOTS louder, some not so much.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Also the tone
should
change though again it depends on the exhaust as to whether it gets higher or lower.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Need detailed pics on how to instal an oil catch can please...
not to hijack this thread too far but . . . I am adding a rev 3+ catch can to my rev 2. There are 3 connections to the black can, I am assuming they are: Air/Oil in from the rocker cover, Air out to the intake, and a small one I assume is oil drain back to the engine. Where on the engine does this d...

If you are on a stock exhaust then go for it.
It sounds ok, not too loud with a cat in place but it is real drone-ey in the cabin at motorway speeds.
I wear ear plugs if I have to drive any distance in the tubby.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
