Re: Evo vs MR2 turbo Rev 2

Fair enough, was just a bit of banter really... You are right about each owner defending his/her purchase. You boys enjoy your MR2's. Alright i think 5 pages of this is enough now. People who own an mr2 will always defend it as will you owning the evo. Both good cars in there own right but two compl...

Re: Evo vs MR2 turbo Rev 2

The fact you have invested 10K into an older cars means you lose money faster, you will never get that money back end of! http://www.lancerregister.com//showthread.php?s=&threadid=153559 Best recheck your figures... £13k will net you and FQ300. and will be a newer car than the 10K MR2. This thre...

Re: Evo vs MR2 turbo Rev 2

The only '2' that I would even think of having a chance is a Rev3+ as they were just a better platform but still years behind in development to the Evo.

Re: Evo vs MR2 turbo Rev 2

Correct! Having tuned the Rev3 myself I know where the limits are. All in all I had MR2's for 6 years.

This thread has gone waaaayyyy off subject so I apologise to the original poster.

Re: Evo vs MR2 turbo Rev 2

Good for you, and I have owned three MR2's so I have vast experience with both cars. I could go and trawl youtube and find many more vids showing the results the other way round but I don't need too as like I previously said they dont prove a thing. The Evo was built to actually go round corners not...

Re: Evo vs MR2 turbo Rev 2

You may have the figures to match the standard Evo BUT the Evo will still outperform the MR2 due to its handling abilities ;) I am not finding anything hard to swallow, at all!! 350bhp reliable on the MR2 is £3800. Suspension sorted is £1500. Brakes sorted are £1000. Purchase price (my Rev2) £3000. ...

Re: Evo vs MR2 turbo Rev 2

The MR does these figures straight out of the box ;)

luthor1 wrote:I am not finding anything hard to swallow, at all!!

So for £9,300 you get 4.5 to 60, sub 11 to 100, top speed at the rev limiter of 165mph.

Re: Evo vs MR2 turbo Rev 2

The MR FQ 320 is running 320bhp to get the extra 80hp is as simple as running slightly higher boost levels, remap, 3" turbo back, and fuel pump.

Re: Evo vs MR2 turbo Rev 2

Not at all, but its a blanket price to cover a large range of cars. I know you are finding it hard to swallow but the reason I chopped my Evo VII in for the MR was the fact it has this tuning ability the VII doesn't. Those prices are for the Evo VI, the MR is more advanced/developed than the VI, it ...

Re: Evo vs MR2 turbo Rev 2

Oh and just to add, having owned two MR2T's (one rev2 and one late rev3), I know that the bottom end is the next weak link in the process, I have the four pistons still to prove this, massive ring land failure at 1.5bar. The MR runs 1.6 as standard with the capability of running 1.9 safely. Reliabil...

Re: Evo vs MR2 turbo Rev 2

Those prices are for the Evo VI, the MR is more advanced/developed than the VI, it uses stronger rods & pistons, better turbo, more agressive cams etc etc, on the Evo MR you require the RC Ecutek package ( http://www.lancerregister.com//showthread.php?s=&threadid=154216 ) If you look here at...

Re: Evo vs MR2 turbo Rev 2

You can pick up Evo 4's for that sort of money but the later cars are just so much more developed as a package, to start with a £4K MR2 you would then be looking at £1400 for brakes, the suspension design/layout on the MR2 is fairly primitive but a set of good coilovers does work wonders (i used JIC...

Re: Evo vs MR2 turbo Rev 2

Exactly, spend that sort of figure on the Evo and you will be seeing closer to 450/500bhp with the same in torque.

Re: Evo vs MR2 turbo Rev 2

The videos don't really show or prove anything as the state of tune is unknown... The 3SGTE engine is a good engine and the MR2 is a nice looking car, I still see my old '2' around and believe it is running TD06 now so should be a quick car but as a package it will be lacking. The Evo out of the box...

Re: Evo vs MR2 turbo Rev 2

 :^o To be an encounter, the Evo has to have had a driver and not just parked up stationary at the side of the road....

It's amazing what these little Rev2 MR2's are capable of when the other car is not moving...

Re: Evo vs MR2 turbo Rev 2

Typical MR2 owner... Haridresser! Typical Evo owner! This Evo owner was down our local gym the other day, the wee boy had an Fq300. Was bragging how he was 22 and had an Evo, and was the fastest thing around. My words exaclty "Thats a faggot car, you little b1tch. You need rear wheel drive in y...
