Re: Rev2 to Rev3 conversion ecu to loom

If you send me both your rev2 and rev3 engine looms i can merge them to make one plug and play harness with no adapter needed.

Re: Toyota S50 transmission for V6 swap SW20

Hi Ben, i'm not currently offering this until i have a full DIY kit in production, which i am working on as we speak. The ones i have completed were all done bespoke in house.

Re: Toyota S50 transmission for V6 swap SW20

Most people use the S54 but fit our extended 5th gear conversion we discovered many years ago, gives the perfect combination of good acceleration from 1st-4th and 3200rpm in 5th at 70mph. Or you could fit our EA61 6 speed conversion, which will drop 70mph down to 2000rpm. Our EB60 6 speed is also an...

Re: Possible head gasket issue

Sniff tests aren't conclusive on 4a-ge engines, the HG breach can be so fine (usually around number 4 cylinder to water jacket) that it will only blowby exhaust gas under load. The test i use is to carry out a leakdown test (just apply 50psi to each cylinder at TDC) with the coolant filler cap off, ...

Re: rev1 turbo lump into a rev1 na. jdm. Help required please.

In 20 years i have yet to swap the kickwell loom on any turbo conversion, just repin the engine harness to suit, far less likelyhood of other issues occuring. Also you can simply use the NA gear cables with the addition of a simple 12mm spacer on the gearbox cable bracket, no need to buy turbo cabl...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Starter clicking

Ah right, well i think your first port of call is the old alarm/immobilizer wiring and go from there, something is jumping across both circuits.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Starter clicking

Hopefully that is where the issue lies, the starter relay energiser wire (red) is picking up power from somewhere that it shouldn't be, and the flashing indicators in time with the relay really only point towards an alarm/immobilizer wiring fault.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Starter clicking

If i had to throw in my best guess, it sounds like you have an aftermarket immobiliser fitted, or maybe an old one, that is clipped into the starter circuit and is now shorting out internally, it's all i can think of that links indicator flashes to starter relay activation. Shouldn't be too hard to ...

Re: Alternator and cooling fan lights on.

I disagree with that as a diagnosis, it means it has a charging issue, it does not automatically condemn the alternator. In a lot of cases it's the wiring to the alt or main charging cable, it can also be a poor connection at the M2 or N1 connector corroded. If i had a quid for everytime someone jus...

Re: Rev 2 3sgte swap, wiring help needed

I just don't get the whole "change the kickwell loom" thing, even other specialists do that, sure if it comes from exactly the same revision/month and you're lucky enough everything works afterwards then I suppose it's ok, but the number of people that ring or email me with kickwell change...

Re: Rev 2 3sgte swap, wiring help needed

I actually find it much easier not changing the kickwell loom and just repin the engine harness at the rear to run properly in the car, that way there are no chassis related faults to chase afterwards (of which there can be many) I've converted dozens to turbo and never changed a kickwell harness ye...
