Also it may be a more serious repair than you've bargained for, take the head off and inspect the block around number 4 cylinder, they are notorious for deep pitting here and can render an engine as scrap, no amount of replacement gaskets will fix it. I even took off 2 HT leads with the engine running and it made no difference at all.

If you did that then the engine must only be running on two cylinders!

Removing any HT lead should instantly change the way the engine sounds/runs.

Agreed, it's the internal part of that area that you cannot get access to unless the mounting point is chopped out, as I mentioned above you could plate up the external easy to get at bits and It will last a year or two, but you really do have a ticking time bomb on your hands internally.
