Re: Best Polish???

Farecla G3.

A guy in the trade told me about it, they use it to tart up old bangers on the lot. Amazing stuff, works like a cutting compound, but doesn't actually cut the paint. Use any old coloured polish afterwards and the car will look great.

Re: HI EVERY1 - ANY1 FROM NORTHERN IRELAND?

I'm outside Carrick, '88 SC. There's a nice dark blue MK1 NA lives in Carrick near the sea. Does that belong to anyone on here? Anyone else in NI with an SC? I know of three for certain and have heard rumours of a couple more, but not seen them. I'd be game to meet up for a pint and a yarn sometime.

Re: mk1.5 in Northern Ireland

Ring Beatties in Newry and tell them what you're after. Give them your number and tell them that the next 3SGTE that comes in, you want it! That seems to be where most of the high performance Toyotas end up in NI after they've taken a trip through a hedge. I pester them every now and again to make s...

Have you got your turbo engine yet?

Re: NA - SC - engine mods?

What's a 'monkey?' It isn't mentioned in that song in 'The Italian Job.' :)

'Go wash your boat race and your German bands...' et al.

By the way...

Damen, the best ideas all start ill-conceived, then they get developed and become something useful.

Or alternatively a Sinclair C5.

Re: NA - SC - engine mods?

Lauren

Do you think that turbo manifold could be altered to be just a regular s/steel manifold that I could hook up to my Janspeed back box?

I think my cast iron one looks naff now.

Re: NA - SC - engine mods?

Hi. By far the cheapest way to do this in the long run is to sell your NA and buy a JDM SC - the whole car. I went through all the options and trust me this was the least hassle and left me with a great car. For one thing, the japanese cars have galvanealing on the critical panels like rear wings an...

Re: Mk1b exhaust, Janspeed vs Magnex

I'd be suspicious of those Powerflow figures. I had a PowerFlow stainless system made up for my old NA and it was a compromise between performance and noise. When I bought my SC it had a Janspeed back box on it that is in another league. Sounds incredibly evil. I've had to have the steel bits welded...

Re: Electronic and Manual Boost Gauges

I've seen an LED module with four 2 inch high numbers that would look the nuts up on the dash.

Re: Droplinks

I don't know if this helps, but in the world of the Mk1 there have been many suggestions on cheap replacements for these links. Early Mazda 626 and Vaux Omega links are pretty much a direct replacement and my supercharger has modified Ford Fiesta ones up front. From what I've gathered there isn't a ...

Re: Electronic and Manual Boost Gauges

I have an analogue TIM boost gauge and a matching oil pressure gauge in pods each side of the instrument panel. Routing the pipe was easy enough without getting it kinked or squashed and it works well. Best part was that it was only £20 including delivery from www.speeding.co.uk I have been thinking...

Apexi S-ITC ignition workings

Anyone on here with some technical knowledge? I have an old Apexi S-AFC and have managed to design a homebrew controller using the same principle, but with more control. I'm interested in how the Apexi S-ITC ignition controller worked if anybody knows. I know it intercepted and modified the crank an...

MK1 Underseat subwoofer wiring

Can anyone tell me what the sub connections under the driver's seat in my MK1 are? I'm not looking to do anything too fancy, but I got a nice wee woofer for £2 in a charity shop that might sit behind the seat and I'd be keen to use the exixting wiring.

Thanks

Lean condition

I thought that too, but a number of US owners of JDM cars have reported the same lean thing and I have to say my own car behaves similarly, so I'm not sure. I fitted an S-AFC more as an experiment knowing that it interferes with the ignition and to be fair it provided a slight improvement. If I coul...

SC Lean Condition - 'Grunt Box' and S-AFC

Has anyone in the UK bought a 'Grunt Box' for their SC? I was thinking of buying one, but after checking out the website and installation instructions I thought that this was something I could build myself, being handy with electronics. I'm not looking to make any money out of this, but am prepared ...
