Doors
Installing into the doors will need a bit of creativity because there is almost no spare room in there. I saw one neat installation using very slimline speakers (very slim) a few years ago, but apparently those speakers cost an arm and a leg. Otherwise you will probably need to build something onto ...

Max
Or you can go Mad Max like me and have a 3 position switch -
SC OFF (Economy mode)
SC ECU (Normal)
SC Mental (Permanently Enganged)
Very easy to do with a switch and a relay.

TPS Screws
I've had the same problem. I set the TPS, got it wrong and had to take the whole throttle off again to get the screws out. I replaced them with 2 with hex heads to make life a bit easier.

Re: SC Battery Upgrade
In my NA to SC swap I drilled a hole through the bottom of the battery stay and put a long piece of threaded rod in there to keep the intercooler up. Just back from a week's holiday in Cornwall. I like this idea Bigbobo, I'm thinking that would be the best way to go, maybe even see if I can get som...

SC Battery Upgrade
I got around to fitting a 55Ah battery into my SC to replace the piddly 35Ah thing that had a habit of going flat at the wrong moment. Anyway the intercooler is supported at the back by the battery top plate, but my new battery is about an inch lower than the old one and is being held securely in pl...

UPDATE -
Against all good advice (!), I bored a 5mm hole with a very high-quality bit into the dead centre of the broken off 8mm bolt and then carefully tapped this for 6mm. Then used a good spec M6 bolt to hold the thermostat on. Sorted.

Thanks
Thanks for the advice, that makes a lot of sense. I'm having a few problems loosening the front nut on the trailing arm (after everything else coming apart easily), but I put the whole thing in some petrol to leave and then I'll try loosening it again.

Bolts
First of all, apologies for not replying sooner, but the hot weather was too good to miss and we took off to my mother-in-law's caravan by the sea for the weekend. My car has been dry-stored for the last 10 years so getting the nuts and bolts loosened hasn't been a big problem, except for wrecking m...

Speakers
There were good Alpine ones in the front of my car when I bought it and I've tried 2 other sets and they all sounded a bit tinny, even with acoustic wadding packed behind them. In the end I built a speaker box to replace the centre console and disconnected the little rear speakers. There are a pair ...

Poly bushes for rear of AW11
Hi I have to get an MOT in the next couple of weeks. Last year I was advised to replace the driver's side ball joint at the rear. I did this, but I'm not sure why in the end because the old one seemed in good enough order, but it was a good learning experience. Anyway, I reckon that I should really ...

I went out to the garage to take some photos, but didn't really need to. When I got some light in to see what was what it was obvious where the broken piece of casting had come from, the other side of the thermostat. It looks like it broke off a long time ago and there is no bolt in the hole in the ...

I'm not a huge fan of the extractors myself having broken a couple over the years. Elbon - yes it's almost level so there's nothing to get a hold of. I'm a bit confused now because my thermostat is hanging loose after the bolt sheared off and I can't see where the other bolt should be. I'd be happy ...

Bolt
I sheared off the bolt that holds the thermostat on when I went to re-connect the earth strap. Ruined my Sunday afternoon. I'd put a lot of easing oil round it overnight, but looking at what's left, 25 years of water running down there had rusted it in very tight. Made me realise why the earth strap...

4A-GZE Earth Strap
Hi all. I'm in the process of upgrading the tinny 35Ah battery in my SC to a 55Ah one and discovered that the earth strap to the engine isn't connected. I've owned the car 11 years and I never took it off, so this was a bit of a shock and explains a few problems I've been plagued with. Anyway, where...

Double-glazed
I've just received 5 metres of black P-section double-glazing rubber trim in the post today thanks to eBay. Now, what am I supposed to do with it :) Is the idea to glue it on or use the self-adhesive tape that's already on it? I was thinking of glue so that the round part of the 'P' would be along t...

ABV blanking plate
Well that was the best mod ever! I took the ABV off last Thursday night and made up a blanking plate from the lid of a Roses sweet tin and now I'm getting 12 PSI (0.8 bar) boost instead of 10 PSI. That has to be the cheapest upgrade ever and the car is going like a rocket. I've changed the vacuum pi...
