Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 4wd mr2 conversion- can it be done?

[/quote] I agree, mate. I don't think the mk2 is ideal for our back roads. It's much better suited to a smooth surface, like many of the roads in Japan.[/quote] Agreed way to many potholes, makes you think what the tax is all for. The car does handle alot nicer on a new smooth tarmac, i suppose i ca...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 4wd mr2 conversion- can it be done?

Stock topmounts are known to wear and effect handling. TRD topmounts are £200, plus the labour for fitting them and apparently sharpen up the steering. Drop links are always in need of replacing on 2s it seems and make a difference. The best thing to do is just go the whole hog and get Tein Super S...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 4wd mr2 conversion- can it be done?

Thanks for the info Refo :thumleft: I would explain the behaviour of the car as if you go around a bend, tight or slightly sharp the front end seems skittish, abit like cork screwing. has undeersteer aswell, until the back intervenes and points it back on track. It feels as though the front reacts b...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 4wd mr2 conversion- can it be done?

I think the car to which you refer is the Mk1 Group B/S rally car: http://www.groupbrally.com/toyota.shtml There are 2 of these remaining: a black TTE one in Germany (from which I got the inspiration for my "Nighthawk"), and a white Group S one in Japan. I'd love to build a replica, using...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 4wd mr2 conversion- can it be done?

Not really wanting to do this but would be interesting if it can be done or if it has already. ...snip... What do you guys think? Prop-shaft through the petrol tank? Oh, but hang on, doesn't the GT4 prop shaft exit backwards... ...and blah, blah, a dozen other reasons why it can't be done properly ...

[Mk2] [Turbo] 4wd mr2 conversion- can it be done?

Hi, Not really wanting to do this but would be interesting if it can be done or if it has already. Maybe the GT4 would donate much needed parts. I think a 60-40 or 70-30 distribution would be good still reataining extra power to the rears. I think the Mr2 has very little grip on the front, and under...

Yeah thought it would be snapped, dont attempt to start it coz wit no belt nothing is moving in sync and you can bend summat.

Best of luck with the new belt :thumleft:

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] power loss

I would try a new cambelt first, and see. you'll probably find its all okay :thumleft: ------touch wood!
If any valves are bent, may be better to just repair it if you know your block is in good nick coz a 2nd hand one wont hold any gaurantees

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] power loss

Even a blown turbo should start surely??? Did the AA man not check under the cover to check belt if its snapped. should really be checking that first if its just cranking, could cause more damage if its snapped and your turning the engine over- even if it is non-interference it could still cause dam...

Any oil around your turbo or in your Bov if aftermarket one.

Guys could it be anything to do with the vsv thingy?

Rev3 tubby should boost to 13psi, in 3rd onwards.

Re: MR2 Turbo VS Honda Integra Type R???

I've raced to teg's on two occasions in my rev3 tubby. I know i wasn't boosting well but we took off from the lights down a dual carriageway and i pulled a nice lead then round a big roundabout and both was on it coz i was maxing in 2nd and down another straight and a few bends and i kept ahead all ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Is this omori Boost gauge accurate

I work with laser cutting machines and one of the tools in my toolbox is a very accurate 0 to 2 bar (abs) pressure gauge reading in 0.1 millibar increments (or hPa, PSI). I tested our Omori boost gauge before connecting it up as it too was reading slightly below zero. The result was that the Omori ...
