Re: Where to buy track day (not race) car?

I've got standard suspension so I was making full use of the rumple strips! I also tend to be as heavy on the brakes as I can, kind of a bad habit as a form of long-term testing. Carrying speed into Paddock Hill seemed a bit nerve wracking after watching the number of MR2 spins I've seen there (Yout...

Re: Where to buy track day (not race) car?

I'd be happy with my 119bhp if the car was 800kg! But as far as I can tell it's 1,275kg.

I've been doing more work on the Mk2 original 15" front wheel (Toyota made it SO tight to fit a 4-pot in there! #-o ), but good news, both 280mm kits (22mm thick 4P158 and 28mm thick 4P159) fit with NO wheel spacers!

Oh, it looks like (based on my +/- 1mm printable PDFs, so not 100% confirmed), the 298.5x18 4P018 kit might just fit inside the ET43 15x7 Rays TE37...

If so that's a "300mm" kit under a 15", not often that's possible!

Re: What are the 'must do's' before a track day?

Make sure there's nothing loose in the car's cabin. Normally it's tyres and brakes that fall short at trackdays, so most people upgrade but as it's your first one you should be ok - depends how hard you push the car. Any sign of a soft brake pedal, ease off straight away and let the brakes cool as t...

Re: WMS Brakes-> SW20 4 pot brake kit: £495.00+vat (also 2.5% or 5% IMOC discounts!)

We're looking at doing a batch of brackets for a new kit size, 280mm to fit in the 15" OEM front wheel. As with the larger kit, there are two versions that share a bracket to allow swapping from one disc to the other: 4P158 - 280x22, T20 caliper, straight fit under SW20 original 15" wheel,...

Re: Best alloys for track use???

I wanted to use the new larger caliper, but it's taking a while to release. I've been messing about with PDFs just now as you gave me an idea, and I've made some progress. I can do two kits very easily using the existing T20 caliper: - 280x28 T20, straight fit, no spacer. (EDIT after finding it fits...

Re: Best alloys for track use???

According to Kongaroo (based on my +/- 1mm printable PDFs, so not 100% confirmed), the 298.5x18 WMS kit fits under his ET43 15x7 Rays TE37... So there are 15" wheels out there you can get to about 300mm under, sadly not the OEM 15" one. I'll be looking at doing a kit to fit under that soon.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Standard brake disc and pads Vs. updgraded kit

For the Mk2 - (me), Race Idiot (last post on page 1 of this thread)...not sure who else that's on here. Try and speak to Nick_r who's got them front and rear on his car, racing in the Nippon Challenge.

Loads more people with our stuff on the Mk1 as that kit's been around longer.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Standard brake disc and pads Vs. updgraded kit

The weakest point in your setup will be those EBC Greens - Reds are a load better.

I'll drop you a PM in a sec, you're right about the TUV bit being a pain (of course the same problem applies to Wilwood)!

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Standard brake disc and pads Vs. updgraded kit

I'm thinking about buying it, is there anything negtive I should know about this kit? It's worth asking for a kit profile to see if it'll fit in your wheels, it's a wide disc with a wide caliper - might need a very thick wheel spacer where other kits could be a straight fit. Other things I can see ...

Re: 4AGE Tuning

If you're sticking to the 4AGE format, the 1.8 7A bottom end is well worth a look for that much power, and especially if you don't want to up the cams to a higher rev range. IF you do decide to build an all-steel bottom end then the 7A's slightly weaker rods become moot as well, so it makes even mor...

Mk1 front + rear full set new Blueprint pads - £25+£5 p/p

Yep, that's these, £30 delivered (£25+vat) within uk Zone 1. Blueprint seem to have a good reputation for a normal road pad, see: www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1242332&sid=93224c718a95e0511eefaf47be12c877 I've only got the one set so I'm letting them go for less than RRP. http:...

Re: mk1a brakes, original or upgrade?

Keri: Those brakes looks nice!! Do you supply some documentation on the quality/usability(like TüV or similar certification)? That would be needed to keep the car road legal... Not that important on the brake pads, but on discs/calipers it`s more easy to see during the MOT equivalent tests. Thanks!...
