Re: "Gordon" my red MR2
Been off work yesterday afternoon and today, finally got round to fitting a new thermostat on "Gordon" and doing a full coolant change so my car finally warms up which might improve the fuel economy a little! Today, I whipped off the old wheels which are looking rather tired and whilst the...

Re: Goldy's MK2 Flappy Paddle Gearbox Build
Its a different driving experience having full control of the gearbox. Downshifts are very snappy and because you can keep it in whatever gear you want, it makes keeping your foot down round roundabouts and corners a lot less dicey! 8) I actually enjoy driving the auto round town a lot more than my ...

Re: Goldy's MK2 Flappy Paddle Gearbox Build
I've been modifying my car to add the LED display and moving the the wiring to allow the control unit to be mounted in the centre cubby box. I've decided that i'm going to remove the O/D light an put a mini gear indicator in there : http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/7615/img00147201102121052.jpg Fl...

Re: Goldy's MK2 Flappy Paddle Gearbox Build
Now got a display wired up, programmed and working. This shows what gear you have selected when using the flappy paddles. When you're not using the flappy paddles it'll show what gear the ECU has selected. Going to fit it to the dash in place of the o/d light 8) Video of it working : http://www.yout...

Re: Going to buy this car this Saturday what should I look out for??
This has been covered loads, I think there is a buyers guide in the knowlege base. Check everything works, check coolant level and colour, check for mayo in the oil check geabox and clutch, have a look underneath for corrosion and damage check the brakes don't pull to one side under heavy braking. I...

Re: [All] [Generic] how to use my fkn ohmeter......
the low range should be the one to use 200ohms gives you a range of 0-200ohms however I doubt you will be able to measure 0.4 - 0.5 ohms with that meter and get a sensible reading, its a very low value.

Re: Project lost the plot
Just seen this thread! Great project, looking forward to seeing it progress, I supercharged my mk2 but it was the 3S-FE engine which meant I had a little more space but started off with less BHP to begin with!

Steering wheel change
So for a while now i've been looking for an aftermarket steering wheel option to work with the flappy paddle box, and I found a steering wheel with buttons, the only problem was it didn't have a horn push as I would be using the two buttons to change gear. So.... Take one of these: http://img510.ima...

Re: Goldy's MK2 Flappy Paddle Gearbox Build
how strong is the auto box ? Not very, IIRC  The MR2 one is not so tough, though the camry ones are a lot beefier.... the 1MZ V6 MR2 has a camry box fitted 8) I read a while back about a company in the states that can upgrade the MK2 auto box which significantly increases the torque rating, i...
