Re: What are the various causes of Pinking ?

I had a very similar problem in my old rover. I have 3 suggestions if it is not the timing. 1. Check the distributer cap and rotor arm, they may be knackered. 2. Check the spark plug leads, these can become dodgy without much warning. 3. Use a can of 10k Boost on the air intake, your engine might be...

Re: Engine "hangs" 1st 2nd & 3rd gear...

I have a similar problem on the 5sFE engine. It seems to have a huge flat spot for bout 1second when you put your foot down in any gear before you get any acceleration. I realise my accelerator cable is a bit loose but its so bad its almost like a turbo spinning up! Its most noticable when its cold ...

Chav Scum

Parked me Mr2 last night bout 8 down a side street in manchester city centre, come back at 10 and some chav has smashed my window and nicked the stereo. I'm not so bothered about the stereo like, its the fact that the new window is goin to be £250 fitted, I have a screwdriver hole in the rubber seal...

Re: What Do You Think Of This?

Aparantly so. They have been tested by a variety of different people.. The accuracys are quoted to be 5% ish with a repeatability of .5% or something. So for me thats good enough to be +or- 5hp.

Re: Do I buy it???

sorry but i assumed it was a mk2.... they did make a 1.6 version in the first 2 years, though I don't think they sold many. H was the 1st year of the mk2 right? Goldy, a 1.6 MK2 was never made. They are 2l only, much like all MK1s are a 1.6. Sorry bout my confusion i've been a retard.. Didn't take ...

Re: On/Off Switch Found

could be an aerial switch to turn the motorised aerial off? I know some people fit them cos they don't like having the aerial up all the time when they are listening to cds etc?

Re: Aerial Problems

Muchos good news... I decided to build my own aerial out of a twisted pair from network cable. Threaded it round the boot and used a spare adaptor socked to connect it up. Works a treat, is completely invisible and means I don't have to use the stupid motorised aerial!! Problem is I just paid £67 fo...

Aerial Problems

I've recently bought a spoiler off a GTI MR2 mk2 to fit onto my 91' standard mr2. Problem is it overlaps the aerial by about 1cm. I want to listen to the radio so I was thinking of getting some sort of stubby aerial such as seen on bmw's or mercs that will fit under it.. Does anybody have any ideas ...
