Just wanted to see the intrest thats all.

I've been talking to a US supplier about a group buy on Carbon Fibre bonnets. and ive managed to get a superb deal in my eyes.

They can supply a Mk2 Carbon fibre bonnet for £250.00 POSTED!!! we need 4 orders minimum. I think that this is Brilliant considering the Uk prices are around £400.00 that is $800.00

It works out

$300.00 (£150.00) for a Carbon Bonnet
$200.00 (£100.00) for postage to one location

Total of £250.00

Do you mean you've asked for bonnets with the louvre design but without any holes cut out for vents?

What is the purpose of the vents or are they just for show?

Have you considered any import duty? Still be a bargain though!

What is the purpose of the vents or are they just for show?

The vents are taken from the 'Border' designed bonnet. They have something called a 'rad relocation kit' that angles the radiator backwards thus deflecting airflow onto and up the rad. The idea is to remove the front plastic bit from the 'frunk' and the hot air is then deflected up and out the front bonnet.

Hi guys, ive had alot of PM's about this, problem is the cost of the Import Tax. Which alot of people seem to have got stung... Im trying to find out how much the import tax is... Will keep you posted

I can't say for UK but I've looked into importing Border hoods before and here in Ireland, the import tax is basically the VAT + handling fee. Our VAT is 21% - so, in all it comes in around 22-23%.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind paying $500 + import tax.

$200 sounds very cheap for shipping.

Places I've checked with before are all around the $480-$700 mark, jsut for shipping.

Can you ask him details on who he is shipping with etc ?

I dont want to be a wet blanket but if you add the vat and 7% on top of the £300 you arent to far from what they sell for here if you shop around and plus if there is a problem with it at least you can get it sorted here and not wind up potentially sending it back to the U.S.A.
If you can get enough people interested and get a good discount for maybe 10 bonnets then maybe it would be a bit more viable.

So £250 + 17.5% VAT + 7% Duty = £311.25 To the door

No. The vents are in front of the frunk. They are directly above the plastic bit around the bonnet release catch. The idea is that you remove this plastic cover, get the rad re-location kit which angles the rad, and the air flows out the bonnet vents.

Just to point out that I did find a U.K. supplier who will if we gat enough of a list up quote for carbon fiber bonnets both o.e.m. style and border.
If this time a list is put together that makes it viable for me to contact the supplier we could possibly compare prices - BUT and I stress this it is no good me going for a price on three or four bonnets as was the case when I looked into this I would have to say 10 minimum.
Not trying to jump the thread or anything but I think it would be good to have a direct comparison of prices plus if we have a problem at least the supplier is in the U.K.
